Pepcid, carafate medication reaction?
I have recently made a connection between Pepcid and Tinnitus. I have been on medication for GERD for many years. Before my Tinnitus started I changed to Pepcid. That was about two years ago. I think the Pepcid could have damaged my ears. I have been unable to make a connection between Pepcid & Tinnitus until now.

I have been off Pepcid for a while and my Tinnitus was getting better. Then my GI doctor gave me a prescription for Pepcid 40mg twice a day. After three days of being on it my Tinnitus was so much worse!!!

I stopped taking it for several days now and my Tinnitus is better. There is a definite connection.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

The extra mucous with GERD can cause problems with your tubes and tinnitus.
Sleeping with 2-3 pillows at night will help and no late night meals that are heavy and spicy...lots of love glynis

I've been on Pepcid (Famotidine) 40mg night ad morning (80 mg a day!) for about for years for bad acid reflux. I just made the connection yesterday. I've had tinnitus for 1.5 months. One doc thought it was noise-induced and one thought it was unknown. I'm hoping the tinnitus goes away after I lower/stop Pepcid! I also have a lot of mucous production from asthma -- I sometimes take mucinex to dry it up.

Tom, how is your tinnitus now?

Thanks both,

Brian
