I got a perilymph fistula last year after a bang to my ear. I saw a Consultant at the time who said I had tinnitus but didn't diagnose a PLF. I was given an MRI but they said it was clear - but I know I have a PLF, it can't be anything else.

Can an MRI scan sometimes miss a PLF?

I've had tinnitus now for about seven months, my hearing at the beginning was terrible but it's got much better, however the tinnitus is still a nightmare.

I'm hoping to see my Consultant again soon and am going to ask him about PLF repair surgery (is there such a thing?) Has anyone had this type of surgery and if so did it work?

I live in the U.K. so going through the NHS but might get a second opinion in the private sector.
Has anyone from the U.K. done this?

Thanks.

No imaging can detect a fistula.
Every source on the internet says that a CT scan can absolutely detect a fistula. Keep in mind that the cochlea is a macroscopic structure—you can see it with the naked eye. It is about a quarter of an inch in diameter.
