Hi Everyone,
I've had tinnitus for about a year. I habituated a few months afterwards but the past few months it's began really bothering me again. I've been doing a bunch of things to alleviate the sound and my reaction to it. I've been meditating, eating well, exercising, and just generally trying to be more mindful.
However, about three weeks ago my phone alarm went off and it really startled me. Afterwards, I kept hearing something similar to the ring of the alarm in my ear, which I just assumed was the AC unit in my office/house. I didn't think anything of it until I began hearing that same sound in other locations, when i was on vacation, on the train, etc.
Now, when I close my ears with my fingers, i can subtly hear the sound as well as my already existing tinnitus. I'm prone to believe this is my auditory cortex playing tricks on a stressed out mind, as I don't think a phone alarm could cause permanent damage. I believe my T is stress/anxiety related to being with so I am hopeful it will go away.
Does anyone have a similar experience?
