Cause of Tinnitus
Who am I kidding, its got to be noise :/
How common is it to have dizziness or lightheadedness with tinnitus as a result of acoustic trauma (5 months ago)? I feel like I'm always somewhat dizzy or lightheaded, some days are worse than others. Today is one of those days. I'm on Betaserc but that hasn't done squat for my dizzyness or tinnitus. Is this something that gets better over time.

I don't know what else to try. Life is upside down.

Hi there,

to be quite honest with you, I have had tinnitus since 88. I have not had any light headedness or dizziness, unless I had vertigo/inner ear infection or since I got allergies in 2009. Now, I have light headedness almost daily.

I had "positional vertigo" from acoustic trauma, felt like more sway mostly felt when sitting down or looking up. It faded away but it did take around a year to pass.

Thanks for the reply guys. I hope this passes. It feels like this whole experience just gets worse.

When you have a bad cold you wait for it to get better. With this it feels (I still have hope it isn't) like an eternal wait.

It is not easy at all. I had vertigo as a teenager for one month. I was super dizzy and had no balance at all. Was forced to go to school like this and it was beyond hell and torment....

My tinnitus came about, because of vertigo and inner ear issues as well...It sucks....

Yes, every now and then.

But it has nothing to do with T in my case, I have experienced this for many years.

I voted no, but I have felt something like vertigo a few months after acoustic trauma. I only felt it for a few moments, a bit on and off, and it passed after a day or two if I recall correctly. I'm not sure how to describe it best... it might go by "positional vertigo". It was not like everything was spinning around me, I could keep my balance very well, and even stand on a single leg. But I just felt right there that something was wrong. It was only months after that I started having tonal tinnitus. Up until then I had some kind of hiss or static noise.

But yeah, I think I read somewhere that episodes of vertigo can be accompanied with acoustic trauma or even continued exposure to noise, i.e. noise induced hearing loss. I hope that it will pass, and that you will get better soon.
