Hey Debs, do you know if she had any tests or what made the PT worse/better? Started almost 3 months ago, its worse when laying down, bending down, physical activity that type of thing. Though I was not stressed when it started... I was VERY stressed later when it didn't go away.

Hearing that gives me hope! :joyful:
She went to the ENT who said what you might expect, "just live with it", but I don't think she had any other tests or treatments. I will ask her and report back!

My T started in the left side of my head--I woke up and there was a sea shell type noise for about a month. Later, it became a ringing sound directly in my left ear in the mornings that proceeds to change to a whining hiss in my head after I take a Xanax. I think the Xanax softens it but causes it to move into my head.

Hi @DebS ,

My T also started out of the blue. Earning tests are normal. I visited two ENTs, they said my ears are fine. I believe my T also started either from stress or by spikes that I heard back in December while using headphone.

I experienced T last year in September and it was cured on its own in 2-3 days. And it happen again in December and since then its still with me all time. :(

I would like to hear you niece story. Please keep me posted about it. :)

Hey Ishhank, is your T, pulsatile? kinda like hearing your own heartbeat/blood flow?

I talked to my niece and she said the only thing she can think that might have caused her"whooshing" T is stress, as she had a new baby and they were renovating their house at the same time. She had several tests done but nothing showed up and her hearing was fine. She said she just went on with her life altho the T was very bothersome, and eventually it went away on its own. She considers herself very lucky.

@DebS Thank you DebS for your reply. :) This give me some hope. I stressed a lot, I even had history of stressed induced symptoms. I will also wait, may be someday it will disappear on its own.

Mine is usually in the right ear only. But when I have spikes, it is in both ears.
I usually wake up in the morning with it in both ears, too. But on a non-spike day, the left ear settles down within a few minutes of waking, and I hear it just in the right.
The only immediate cause of my T that I can think of is that before onset I was taking Ibuprofen.

right ear only, due to impacted ear wax then ear syringing. Then the use of drops (hoping i didn't have a tiny hole in my ear drum which would imply these drops getting into the middle ear) *sigh* Though sometimes i think it coming from inside my head changes all the time.

Only in one ear the other is almost deaf but no T no H the good ear (normal audiogram) has T & H & distorted hearing. Iam searching a way to deaf the good ear is the same way as the other
but seems that the good has very perfect acoustic memory so deafening will produce terrific T .

I've a cathodic sound in both ears since years. Multiple tones with different loudness have joined the party during the last year, in left, right or both ears.

I have pulsatile Tinnitus in both ears. Mine is a high pitched swishing/hissing sound. Kind of like "snare drum". Along with a vibration that can be pretty scary. Let's continue to share our experiences. Thank you!

Just wondering who all has tinnitus in both ears or just one?

Mine is in both but seems worse in my right.

I have all sorts of sounds, it's very very high pitched, so high I don't know how it's not doing more damage, goes from a high pitched hissing sound to a ring and static.

Mine seems to move sometimes from ear to ear.

Mine is the left ear only. There are times when I think I hear it in my right ear, but I have come to the conclusion I am being fooled, it is such a high pitched squeal.

Bilateral seems to be clearly in the lead.

It would be interesting to know whether the distribution between noise-induced and non-noise-induced tinnitus is different.....
