The opposite of habituation is when the tinnitus sound that you used to tolerate in the past, seems to get more and more disturbing over time...

For me, the long run trend seems to be habituation. However, you Do get those days or even weeks, when I feel like you've had it for So LONG (5000 hours, in my case) - and then it feels like the opposite of habituation. In any case, I AM noticing that I am beginning to forget what it is like to hear silence.

@Bill Bauer when did your experience with tinnitus begin? What's your story? And your support system? Sometimes I get upset at my support system because I know they don't understand just like I don't understand why someone with cancer is going through (just for an example)

@Bill Bauer ,
My Bilateral tinnitus only gets worse but it's due to Menieres and hearing loss.Habituating to it is more or less impossible but my reaction to it emotionally is stronger.

My T turned on on February 2, 2017 (if you hover your mouse over any username, you will see information about their date of onset).

I don't really need anyone's support, but I certainly get a lot of it.

I learned about tinnitus many years ago. I was horrified that something so bad can exist. I imagined what it would be like to have that, and now I know that it is exactly the way I imagined it.

I've been reading many of your posts which are very informative. How is your tinnitus experience now compared to around onset?
