Basically, I'm wondering if this supplement continuously lowers tinnitus for years or if it stops working after a while. Thanks for any help. :)

@JasonP, I've taken it since October last year and as long as I keep taking it, my tinnitus is so much better and I go days without even thinking about it or noticing it.

My miracle.

I didn't answer your poll as I'm not sure any of the responses is applicable in my case.

It temporarily reduces my tinnitus in the sense that it hasn't cured it as I must keep taking it.

If I take it regularly then I keep having reduced tinnitus, so in that sense, it's a permanent solution as it continues to work for me.

Hope that makes sense!

My tinnitus seems to be a bit better when taking Curcumin. My tinnitus however seems to be generally lower on weekends. So work stress is probably involved.

But it's healthy anyway, so I'll continue.

That is fantastic Samantha! I am so happy you found something to reduce it. :) :) What dosage did you take at first and how long did it take to notice a reduction? Also, when you take it now, how long does it take for it to kick in to lower your tinnitus and how long does it last for lowering it? :)

It was such a fluke as initially I had a really bad flare up of a skin allergy and the doctor gave me Prednisolone. I noticed when taking the Prednisolone that my tinnitus was pretty much non-existent.
So I decided to try Curcumin given its anti-inflammatory properties. I noticed a difference within a day or two (from memory).

I take Fusion brand Curcumin and I take 400 mg daily.

I really only have to take it once a day and it might slightly increase as the day goes on, but it's so low I can't even hear it unless I'm in a quiet room and focusing on it.

It's my miracle.

I take around 1000-1250 mg after dinner. My tinnitus is dramatically better than before (specifically during February/March early this year), but can't make a conclusive correlation. I'd stop and see if it gets worse but then I'd no longer be a member of the #cucurmincrew

Curcumin has a temporary effect, it can help improve tinnitus and hyperacusis, but over time maybe the body builds up tolerance and it has not the same effect.

When my tinnitus was mild, yes, I did notice an impact from Prednisone and Curcumin. My guess is it might have to do with TMF-alpha. Would have to try a drug that downregulates it to confirm.

Just be warned Curcumin is technically a salicylate.

I have spent a lot of time reserching Turmeric. The BIG problem is that the body cannot absorb Turmeric or its active ingredient Curcumin - which renders a lot of products useless. "Curcumin has been confirmed to exhibit very poor bioavailability, with many studies showing very low, or even undetectable, concentrations in blood and extraintestinal tissue."

1 study from a reputable nutraceutical test lab showed that over 60% of Turmeric / Curcumin supplements available for sale were not absorbed at all.

Hence why different people have differing results when trying Turmeric or Curcumin for tinnitus.

I took Turmeric daily 500 mg for 6 days and it re-collapsed my tolerances to sound (hyperacusis) and gave me a new tinnitus tone (Morse code). A few months later, the tone has faded a little, but is still there.

Can Turmeric cause uncomfortable side effects at first on its way to healing? For example, I took it, and got more irritable around bright lights, was feeling really weird for the first hour or so after the third time I took it but yet now I am feeling less depressed and anxious.

Hey Samantha, I hope you are doing well. :) Quick question: Is the Turmeric still working for your tinnitus and have you noticed any side effects from taking it for a long time? I was just curious. I hope it's still working for you. :)

Hey my friend!

I'm doing great, super well, basically no tinnitus anymore!

No I'm not taking Curcumin anymore. I take low-dose Naltrexone which has the effect of almost silencing my tinnitus.

I definitely think it's an inflammatory / hormonal thing for me.

I feel like I have my life back.

I've had another baby and tinnitus was mostly stable through the pregnancy and birth.

How are you doing?

I take a mix of natural turmeric, black pepper and ginger in warm water.

I find it often prevents the humming part of my tinnitus.

I think that the humming is due to some sort of inflammation of the vascular system.

I would take it just before I go to bed.

The effect is temporary but useful.

Wow that is amazing! Does your tinnitus go back to your original level if you get off Naltrexone?

As far as me, I'm doing kind of up and down at the moment, unfortunately. Hopefully, I can get better soon though. :) I am so glad you are doing so much better!!!! That is wonderful news!!! :) :) :)

The humming is low frequency tinnitus. I doubt it's vascular. I have low frequency hearing loss and it sounds like a refrigerator or engine.

Question for those that take Turmeric: Do you notice any difference in how it works for you if you take it in the morning or if you take it before you go to sleep at night?

Okay, I tried 500 mg of Turmeric and had a strong reaction to it... Boosted my mood, blood pressure, energy. Unfortunately, I was already anxious so I didn't need that boost in energy, and temporarily nauseated. It was too strong for me. I took it at night too which was probably a bad idea.

Anyways, I think it has a strong reaction to me and increased my serotonin. I seem to have an extremely sensitive nervous system...

Does this mean I have a lot of inflammation?

The energy was really bad at night and I woke up with louder tinnitus probably due to clenching my teeth during sleep and I also started to get a headache two nights later and became even more sensitive to light. (One time I took a very concentrated form of Turmeric and got a migraine later that night).

My question is, if I continue to take it, would these effects go away the more Turmeric worked on me? Is it possible these are temporary side effects due to lots of inflammation in my body?

What dosages are you taking? I am on day two and I notice that when it kicks in my tinnitus gets a bit louder and then drops back off again. I also have that same effect when taking any benzos.

I think prolonged use will eventually cause stomach problems. Bad heart burn and probably other problems. There seems to be a few people with really bad heart burn that also have tinnitus. The acid can get in your Eustachian tubes.
