Post Concussion Tinnitus?

@martin12, when your friend recovered and most symptoms abated 12 mos later, did the tinnitus go away or at least improve?
Just looking for some hope...thanks!

I spoke to a friend of mine and she had a concussion with a skull fracture that resulted in blood coming out of her left ear. She had persistent ringing in her ears for nearly a year and had hearing loss for months.
Fortunately, now 12 months later most of her symptoms are gone. Every case is different however concussion induced T should get better as the inner ear/brain heal with rest and healthy diet.

Please keep us posted how things go over next few months.

Hi all, new to forum

I suffered a fall out of bed having a nightmare about a year ago, banged the back of my head on the nightstand , knocked me out cold for about 10 min. T started 2 days later and has been 24/7 since.Had a CT right away and MRI diffusion scan after a while with normal results, neurologist just said "things would get better and try NAC an OTC drug(did not work).

Had ENT test, normal , he said he has T also and to "just live with it".light ,sound ,drug sensitivity has worsened streadily increasing anxiety all these months and after every test , of course now depression is setting in ,after its going on for so long and not improving ,it has triggered a deluge of drugs that has been a side effect nightmare for a year now.

Most all anxiety / depression meds I have tried(Buspar, klonopin, xanax, diazipam,SSRIs,SNRIs,tricyclics, worsen the ringing, which goes back and forth from moderate to severe, and only Klonopin seemed to slow the now daily anxiety episodes. But can't stay on Benzos forever, also have to take zolpidem to get past the ringing to get a few hours sleep each nite. I have BPH so I have to do a sleep dance each nite. Things that help:Getting enough Sleep,B12 shots ,long walks in fresh air, trying to stick to a decent diet, try the Calm Radio app on your phone, talking to family,All these seem to help some ,but it's still so tough on some days.

I know from reading the wonderful support here that I have to accept T ,and focus on being positive with my family and life I have left(62)and maybe there will be a breakthru on concussion Tinnitus treatment soon.Others here have suffered for years and years and I really should not complain as they have endured this pain far longer then I.

May God speed a cure for all of us!
Glad to be here

I feel your pain, anxiety and stress. I have spent 10 years getting my teeth in order and have had several surgeries.

I currently feel chronic pain in my left and right Neck, right shoulder, wrist, fingers, hips and intermittently in my back and right knee. Still healing from Nasopalatine Surgery, Eye Surgery. On December 7th, 2016, I received a blow to the Head and Neck at work due two office baffles fell on me (400 lbs. total). Constant Tinnitus has appeared in both ears about 45 days later around January 21st, 2017, and it has not subsided. Now the Tinnitus is causing me extreme anxiety and I am concerned now that I may have hearing loss that may end my dream of playing and worsening my life balance and aspirations.

I have been waking up in the middle of the night since 2012 due to chronic pain. Work is my worst problem having to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer causing eye strain and tightness throughout my body. I am a Musician and have had to stop playing for prolonged periods of time over the last 5 years due to my physical condition. I have an ergonomic setup at work, however, it doesn't relieve the aches and pains however is more comfortable than what I had before.

Since my onset of Tinnitus, I have been doing light exercise to increase blood flow in my head neck area with Tai Chai, Floor Yoga and Qi Kong with the best results of all that I have tried so far. I take Vitalux supplements for my eyes that contain 40 mg of Zinc that is recommended for Tinnitus, however I read that a larger dose may be required.

I am using Mineral oil drops in my ear, and have found that Alcohol, Opiates like Percocet, NSAIDs, Acetaminophen, and Aspirin are irritants that can be a cause of Tinnitus.

I am waiting to hear from my family doctor for a referral to an ear nose and throat specialist and will share more once able. Please try the Tinnitus Retraining therapies out as they do help. I meditate and do self-hypnosis and this also creates a positive attitude and can help retrain the brain as many of you have experienced.

All the best in your search to wellness and thank you all for sharing your experiences!

Sorry also to hear of all this pain
You have endured and just now the T
On top of all that! Hopefully you
Have asked for a least a CT scan to eliminate anything obvious. I have recently tried CST therapy( cranial
Sacral therapy) a deep cranialmassage technique I found at a local upscale holistic massage center that helps, but alas always wears off after a few days. Anxiety Med wise I'm still on the Klonopin still but now adding gabapentin
Which hopefully should help to use less klonopin for the T induced anxiety in the long run, but you're right ,Brain retraining is definitely the best long term solution. Hope your ENT helps but mine was ineffective, you need some time
For the blow you got to heal, with Gods help the T will go away soon
And not persist like mine.i used to play guitar before all this but now
I can't focus enough to enjoy it, another thing the T has stolen from me .Plz keep going with your great attitude and keep us informed of your progress, we will beat this!

I have had ringing ears since sometime after my concussion in Feb 2017 (15 months now). It seems to come and go. It makes it hard to focus. It seems to get worse from stress, lack of sleep, and processed sugar. I try to keep a brain-healthy diet consisting of lots of good protein and B12, flax seed, hemp seed, matcha tea, turmeric, omega fatty acids. I have used the wim hof breathing method to hyperoxygenate and that seems to be a temporary fix. Anybody know of a homeopathic method to reduce it?
