If your dad has the same thing going on like Morten Harket, I'd think that you might be in luck as well Who wouldn't run a marathon when they reach a ripe old age, to name an example.Morten has been admired, ridiculed and questioned about his youthful appearance hundreds of times here in Norway. He's just got good genes, it's not really a big mystery. My dad is 81 but when he was 60 he still looked 50 and now he looks 70.
Last summer I actually had a month of Tenacious D-listening on Spotify. It's not really metal, more like a metal-parody or "humorous rock", if you like. But I mean, I'm super flexible. I didn't mean that I only listen to metal, it's just that this is my main genre. Besides Prince, who is the greatest artist of all time in my eyes, I also really enjoy Iggy Pop. And Rammstein, haha.
Ok, I understand what you're going through. It's probably better this way. Many artists who decide to continue with their career despite tinnitus would sooner or later experience more hearing problems and worsening. Noel Gallagher is one of the guys who has experienced a worsening in his tinnitus and hearing and has felt very sorry that he didn't try hard to play safe. I'd imagine nobody wants to be in the same position like he is.I left my band and decided that even if I would've recovered, I would not go back to music. I'm done with it (also I've just grown up and I see lots of things differently). I believe concussion happened for a reason. It's a hint that something in my life must be changed.
Plus my ENT does not advise to return to singing.
Yes, I have two simple options.Ok, I understand what you're going through. It's probably better this way. Have you ever heard of Marc Maron? He's a great comedian who made a really good comment on the Avant-garde Rock of Captain Beefheart. I think you'll love thisI know and it's what I love about quite a couple of their songs
That's a good rock-a-bye-baby song hahaCool little song. I have insomnia.
Yepp. I also wanna say never listen to TOOL while trying to fall asleep. It's a trap. The moment you'll be almost asleep the intense part of the song will kick in and you'll fall off your bed. That's a good rock-a-bye-baby song haha
It's been a while since I've laughed that hard, thanks for pointing in the direction of Marc Maron!Have you ever heard of Marc Maron? He's a great comedian who made a really good comment on the Avant-garde Rock of Captain Beefheart. I think you'll love this
Not sure what I like more, the music or the video - thanks for sharing.Try this one for sleep.
Yep, tricky, tricky, tricky that oneYepp. I also wanna say never listen to TOOL while trying to fall asleep. It's a trap. The moment you'll be almost asleep the intense part of the song will kick in and you'll fall off your bed.
Especially that part of an erupting volcano is very soothing, haha. Thanks for the video @Vassili.Try this one for sleep.
I actually meant only music, not video. Nevermind...Especially that part of an erupting volcano is very soothing, haha. Thanks for the video @Vassili.
Oops, I'm sorry. I also like the song BTW. It's has a nice 90's vibe to it.I actually meant only music, not video. Nevermind...
Is it just me who's reminded of Tomi Petteri Putaansuu, at least as far as their voices are concerned?I also need to admit that I'm a Psychobilly freak.
Actually there is some similarity. Is it just me who's reminded of Tomi Petteri Putaansuu, at least as far as their voices are concerned?
I love Gogol Bordello, mostly their early work, but still - what a great band indeed. Here a song to go along with the ones you've posted, @Vassili:
What I love about their music is that it has some kind of an up beat (I'm not sure if this is the right word for it) to it. Quite a couple of Green Day songs are like that, too. They never fail to make me smile.I love Gogol Bordello, mostly their early work, but still - what a great band indeed.
Definitely something to go with the glass of red wine I'd very much like to have right now if it didn't make my tinnitus super reactive and send my hyperacusis into overdrive.Blues makes me feel good.
O dear lord, the A'dam Klezmer band. My uncle actually helped promote the band by giving them their very first venue and gig at his own cafe in Amsterdam (Café De Nieuwe Lelie). The band actually became regulars at his cafe for many years. They even played a tribute concert at my uncle's old cafe after his funeral and it really showed how compassionate these musicians are. Anyhow, here's a video of the band and of their fond memories of the cafe.Klezmer rules!
