I'm about 7 weeks into T and my H is getting worse...might have been because spending time at police station where it was loud with no plugs, about 5 minutes...

Maybe I'm not protecting enough?

I haven't been exposed to insane noises, just normal environment, but now, even dishes hurt...

I have some Prednisone pills left, I took them before and no change...

Is Prednisone even effective at all for H? Or just wasting my time and risking too much? I didn't like the side effects of this, heart palpitations etc...scary...

My T is the same, only the H is getting worse....

Prednisalone is for respiratory problems and arthritis as it helps inflamation . ..
I don't think it's for hyperacusis and only sometimes given for ear problems down to aucuatic trauma in the first few days...lots of love glynis

Prednisone is used to treat accoustic trauma. Prednisone acts as an steroid-anti inflammatory and it has to be administered carefully (it can be pills or for instance Urbason injections). Finding the best anti-inflammatory is a matter of trial and error. There are two families: steroid and non-steroid anti-inflammatories. Prednisone is steroid and can have in the long run pretty bad adverse effects so it should be administered cautiously taking into accound the severity of inflammation, the cause, etc and administered for a certain period of time, and tapered off progressively. Non steroid can be Enantyum, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, etc

I have tried both families. Prednisone did really nothing to me, not a significant effect if any, after loud noises. Enantyum did nothing spectacular either but seemed to work to some extent and it is non-steroid.

My feeling is it is not a good idea to be on prednisone often.

My h suddenly spiked, even shower is too loud....

I have numerous possible causes:

- 5 minutes in police station (70 db, was hurting my ears)
- slamming doors
- 1 minute in bar with plugs and muffs on

Paranoid? Sure...

But symptoms are REAL, my hyppercacusis is through the roof, will it settle? No exposure was over 80 db, but some pleople say our ears are more sensitive.

I have presdinone available...

I heard you don't need to go cold turkey if less than 5-10 days, can anybody confirm this backed up by scientific proof?

When the doctors prescribed me Prednisone they gave me 60 mg for 7 days and didn't mention anything about tapering. It won't hurt to tapper though.

Nope made the whole thing worse but don't worry it won't happened to you it can only be good for you since you H is noise-induced

In theory, there is no reason to take prednisone with sound exposures around 70 dbs. Medical literature usually refers to prednisone use after objectively loud noise like shooting exercises in the army, explosions, and things like that, sounds that would be well over 100 dbs.
