I agree with Anxiousjohn. Even if your tinnitus doesn't go away, it will probably settle down to a more manageable level in a short period of time. That's what happened to me, when my tinnitus first started. Right at first, my ear ached and I suffered from panic attacks and a lot of anxiety. But a few months later, the tinnitus settled down, and I was able to live my life normally again.
Right now, it's important to get enough sleep, stay calm, watch your diet (not too much caffeine, alcohol, sugar, etc)., and keep background sound in your environment at all times. Also, try to life your life as normally as possible, and focus on something outside yourself. Exercise can help a lot, too. In time, you'll find that things really do begin to settle down for you.
