Hello,
I reecntly tried hearing aids from my friend just for couriosity what is the sound perception through them (I have pretty good hearing just T is what bothers me).

What I noticed in a silent room the hearing aids themselves produce some delicate hum similar to the white noise maskers I use.

I have a question is it common for all hearing aids to produce this hum and if yes doesn't it annoy you?

I was considering to start using hearing aids for my mild hearing loss but now I'm a bit affraid this hum would annoy me on top of my T.

Thanks in advance for your insights about it.

You need to keep the volume down if it happens.
Duel purpose ones have amplification and white noise setting and best to but if have hearing loss and tinnitus...lots of love glynis

I have a HA and yes it does that - it kind of "amplifies silence" in a way that generates some hum. It doesn't bother me - actually I think it helps a tiny bit with my T. Nowhere near enough, but every tiny bit counts.

This hum was enough to cover my T, I suppose I can call my T mild in such case. I will give HA a try for a week to test how will I react.
