Raging Tinnitus — Sertraline Gave New and Louder Noises

Tinnitus so very horrible to cope with, so bad today. I've had recent clinical depression, long story, but it floored me.

Started on Sertraline and it immediately gave new and louder noises.

Has anyone else had this effect from Sertraline?

No? Just me then, it's really raging and so hard to cope with. Black thoughts.

No, I've not taken those, but I'm having a real nightmare after having to have steroid eye drops, etc. I think, IMO, ANYTHING can and does make us worse. Keep your chin up, Nanny, it will hopefully settle. I'm certainly hoping my huge spike gets calmer when I'm allowed to stop all the extra drops I'm on.

Antidepressants can spike tinnitus but usually calms down as your brain adjusts to the drugs.
Amitriptyline,Nortriptyline can help tinnitus for some people.

Thank you slipware and Glynis. I had steroid eye drops early last year and they had no effect on the T. I'm Nanny to some people but I'm Eve. I'm so sorry you are having trouble too, it's a really difficult thing to manage. I've had mine for a very long time but it suddenly got much worse in December 2017. The stress has made me lose weight so I've only got one chin now !
