I did not get sound distortions until I had hyperacusis and loud tinnitus for about 2 1/2 years. Occasionally I'll get that reverberation sound, especially when I raise my voice. I don't remember fluttering, maybe a little. My tones with tinnitus have stayed the same, an airplane engine, jingle bell ringing (most annoying), and a clicking or tapping (Morse-code or typewriter tinnitus). I think stress and lack of sleep are the two things that most affect both. I think over time, it's been 3 years now, my response has become more tolerable I was on edge for the first year to year and a half. I was afraid of sound, I would run or try to get away. It's hard enough on the person experiencing it, but my son has had to experience it too. He knows we cannot go near loud noises, especially out in public. This has gotten better with time.
