I need advice on how to handle reactive tinnitus.
For the past three months, I've had loud tinnitus (a single tone) with volume fluctuations and hyperacusis throughout the day. I developed both of these after a fast taper off Klonopin (Clonazepam).
In January and February, I started to feel a bit better and thought I was on the path to recovery. Unfortunately, about 10 days ago, a second tone appeared. I was managing with white noise for sleep and work, but now white noise of any frequency no longer helps. Both tones have become reactive, responding to white noise by changing patterns and tones, which is driving me crazy.
I feel like I'm on the brink of giving up. Does anyone with experience have advice on handling reactive tinnitus? Sometimes, I feel like going back on Clonazepam and tapering much more slowly after a few months.
