Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown
I just recently began experiencing tinnitus over the course of the last week. It has been a not so fun experience.

Several potential causes:

1. Lexapro/Bupropion started to use in last month. Could be the meds, or Bruxism side effects.
2. Allergies/Sinuses acting up.

Urgent care is under the impression that the teeth clenching/night grinding is causing TMJ and that is the source of the tinnitus.

I will try and get in this week for my dentist, and in the meantime have picked up some mouth guards to help out.

I would love to hear about anyone else's experiences with TMJ, especially any successes they've had with correcting. I think I'm very lucky that the tinnitus is very soft and only noticeable in a quiet room, but I don't want it to get any worse.

Update: Audiologist has confirmed no hearing loss.

Got an appointment with dentist tomorrow for potential TMJ.

Ringing went away for around 30 minutes when ear clogging went away. I am taking this as a good sign that the muscle relaxers and relaxing of the face muscles is doing good work.

Fingers crossed this is still temporary, only 6 days in.

Best of luck!

Appreciate the support here. I went to the dentist today and they recommended a physical therapist for TMJ.

That will be tomorrow. PCP on Friday, ENT next Monday.

No major change in the tinnitus levels today.

Is it normal to feel like one of my ears is constantly clogged and the tinnitus seems to be worse coming from that side? It's switched a few times now.

I'm doing a little better today.

I went to a physical therapist yesterday who discovered a ton of tension in the neck and jaw. They suggested another few things to work it out. My tinnitus was fairly loud after the session, but quieted down a bit later that day.

Today it started fairly normal, but this afternoon is down from what it was yesterday.

I have a PCP appointment tomorrow to discuss if there are any potential other issues. And then an ENT appointment next week.

I will take the decrease in volume as a good sign. Still sucks sleeping. Anyone have a good sound they listen to at night?
