Hi every one,
question for all of you . What would you guys do if you are with friends going for a dinner at a quite restaurant. you go and its way too loud! around 90-95 db. would you guys tell you friends about T and leave the place? or put the ear plugs?
it seems My T has gone up after i went to see a movie and if music is too loud either i would leave or wait ourt but i would not go in. We went to a place and it was around 85 db...i didnt leave , but i put on my ear plugs.
i am going out tomorrow with few guys that i am not close to. I dont want to tell them about my T..I just dont know what i should do.
It really sucks to think about all these dumb scenirios!!!

If you feel uncomfortable like it is very loud leave...you don't have to tell them about your t...although you shouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed to..it is simply a medical condition. If you do choose to tell them, you don't have to explain the full in and outs...you could simply say you have damaged ears and they are now sensitive to noise so you are going to leave them to it..simply as that.

For me personally if it was way too loud I would leave and just tell people I had sensitive hearing or if i felt really uncomfortable saying that I would make another excuse to leave.

If it is just a little loud then just pop your plugs in and enjoy the rest of the night!

But don't feel you have to explain yourself to anyone if you don't want to, but you shouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed of your t in anyway...if they are decent people they will accept your explanation and be understanding...if they aren't then are they really the type of people you wont to be associating with anyway?

You're the one who has to cope if you further damage your ears. Not them. Think of number one.
If you can't enjoy the night with earplugs in, leave.

Yeah I have the same situation often since in the UK the most often visited place for social outings are pubs (damnit lol). I just tell friends I have really sensitive hearing and the overly loud music in pubs gives me massive headaches so I will pass

However I have just bought custom earplugs and recently have just been putting these in giving the same excuse ( sensitive hearing causing headaches/migraines).

Not quite comfortable talking about T to them just yet. Hope it helps!

I would put in plugs and if its still too loud i would leave saying that I am stressed and loud noise annoys me and/or I dont feel like yelling over music in order to hear speech.

It's really alarming how loud most of the places are.
Even shopping centres, some of the shops have music blaring away.

Last time I went to one of the "younger people" shops I said to the girl at the counter: if you knew what it's like to live with ringing in your ears you certainly wouldn't be having music this loud.

Of course my girls thought I'm an embarrassment but I don't care:)

Same with restaurants. Christmas dinner we were seated outside (summer here in oz) and there was a speaker placed on a window near out table.
Blaring away to the point you can't have normal conversation let alone socialise and enjoy dinner.
I asked our waitress to turn it down a bit, nothing, asked the manager, not allowed he said.

Well, in that case I'm leaving.
And I left!

I'm sorry to stir this topic away but the point is that more awareness is needed and public, especially younger generations, should be educated about possible dangers of loud environments.

No need to point back to yourself and mention tinnitus. Better to just state that the environment is too noisy and you'd prefer to dine elsewhere. If anyone tries to twist your arm, politely thank them for the invitation and make a beeline for the door. Plus...a group of guys you're not close to AND a noisy environment? Talk about a drag. Yawn. Save your time, energy, and $$$ for one on one in a quiet, romantic restaurant.

I live in the UK and am going to get some customs. How much did they cost? I have no idea if I'm looking at £50 or £500.

Id pull the headache/migraine women issues.. But if your a dude and dont wanna mention T just say your head is pounding and the loudness is makin it worse and dart outta there! Loud noise does cause headaches anyways ive done that soo many times way before T.
