Ringing from Singapore

@Marlene @Patrick Something to note on beetroot juice.. Its very cooling in nature suggest take a glass with some ginger juice in it.. They both go well..

nogood,

I went to NUH for an MRI early this month. They found nothing with my head and ears (that's good) but they can't explain why I still have occasional vertigo and constant T. I think all the ENTs here in Singapore are useless with regards to treating the T condition.

On a more brighter note, I have been trying out this tibetan medicine/supplement called Agar 35 for 2 weeks now. It seems to lower my T volume a fair bit. I checked with the seller and it does not have any blood thinning issues. You might want to take a look at it

Nogood ,I was told to try Ginger ,for my Rhinitis ,also horseradish .I like the beetroot juice ,not unpleasant at all .
Fed up juggling all these balls when it's more than T going on .I will get root ginger ,I've got a juicer .
Wonder how many have got BP problem since the T began ? I'd find that of interest ,I believe it's stress from having T ,for us with high BP ,I've only had it high for 2 years .Hence beetroot juice and BP tablets .
Hope you not having to bad a day . Best wishes

ENT useless all around the world.
@Patrick@SG agar 35.. where u got it from ??
Gnc ? Gardian ? I will try it as soon as possible. I am off all blood thinners long ago.. so no issues for me to try anything.
I got ample supply of nac.. i managed to get 500 pills. You can give it a try.. as far as i knw in india its prescribed for pregnant ladies and those who try to get pregnant for its strong anti oxidant properties. So far i havent had any side effects from nac.. it does help me with excess mucus/flame. Which i used to have before..

My bp is good these days. Actually very stable ..My problem was my body just couldn't handle bp meds. I had to stop it within one week cause it was 100/50 pluse rate 50.
yes beet root and ginger very good for health. Mix them all you have very tasty drink..
apple + beet root+ carrot + ginger try it

Hello, anyone still monitoring this thread? I'm in SG, T really bad now. TCM not working. Would like to find some people to support each other. Anyone tried treatment at the hearing centre or hearing solutions group?

Vicky84,

I did call The Hearing Solution Group (http://thsc.com.sg/category/home.htm). They are offering this treatment called 'Neuromonics' Tinnitus Treament. But it costs a bomb. something like S$7k top be paid in cash. (can't use medisave). I would recommend you go to either NUH/SGH then from there get referred to the 'Neuromonics' treatment. I think NUH offers that. I would think its much cheaper? Personally I have been taking this supplement called Agar 35. It seems to help my T volume a bit. But its subjective, as I have read for some other people here who tried it, it doesn't do a thing for them.

I hope this helps
.

Hi Patrick,

I am from Singapore. Got tinnitus since September 2014. I have ringing in both ears and head with no hearing loss. My tinnitus is worsening and getting very loud. I have a high pitched sound that seems to be the main problem. I can hear my brain activity so loud after just doing walking and this is driving me nuts..

How have you been after trying the agar 35? Did you try other forms of treatment?

Quoting causes more attention on this forum. Here, ill help you

@Patrick@SG annty seeks your attention.

I woke up to a humming sound after a sleep that never went away. That was how I got it. It was a humming sound at first. Later it developed into many different types of sound during the last four months. I went to ent specialist. They tested me and said no hearing loss at all.

The sound developed into a continuous 24/7 big pitched ringing sound in the last two weeks and I am so depressed by it. The sound seems to have gone to the head. The volume is just getting louder as, well.

When it first started, I had hyperacusis. I was afraid of motor sound, dishes clanking etc.... The hyperacusis is getting better as I tried not to get afraid of it. But I still carry my ear phones when I go out.

My ears seem to extract sounds from externally and amplify them. Sometimes, I hear sound differently from what it used to be.

I am due for another mri after requesting from it from my ear specialist. I feel very depressed that my Dr tells me there is nothing she can do for me. She says most likely the mri will show nothing. I asked for a head mri too but she says no need. She gave me gingko and it doesn't work.

I have gone to Chinese tcm, taken medicine. It worked initially but later became worst. I tried acupuncture once but sound seems to be louder and I am so scared of it.

This tinnitus is getting worst as I can get disoriented after a walk. I seem to hear my brain activity very very loud. Sometimes I can even hear my heart beat. Most of the time though it is just that high pitched continuous sound. Coupled with this, I seem to have developed coldness in the body. I sweat a lot especially when the tinnitus is intolerable. I have the sound masking generator with me. And I have to play it wherever I am.

Is there anyone who can tell me where I can turn to next?

I am really at a loss and desperate.

annty

I have been using Agar35. It seems to calm down my nerves and that may have indirectly help with my T. It is softer now, but I still do hear it. Mine is more prominent in a quiet room and it is at at 14k-15k high pitch.

1 thing I am fairly certain of is that stress and anxiety seems to make T worse. If your T is troubling you, causing anxiety and you also have lack of sleep giving you more stress, your T will become worse. I would recommend you take Agar 35 to try and also something like melatonin to help you sleep so that you would not be so stressed

I hope your T goes away! I can't hear anything above about 12 khz, unfortunately mine is a constant 8. It's been that way for many years.

If it doesn't go away, it will eventually just fade into the background, where you won't notice it 99% of the time.

Oh another thing, I bought those antinitus ear patch. It didn't work for me. If you want I can pass it to you to try see if it works for you

14khz-15khz is at a pitch that would drive you crazy if you can hear it. My T started in late Sep 2014 at 7khz and slowly progressed up to 14khz about a month later and have stay like that ever since. Fortunately for me the volume decreased from a 7 down to a 2-3 now. This is something I can live with. Thank god

Thanks Patrick and all for your reply and offer.

I am seeing another audiologist next week again. I hope to get some help there.

How do you all know the frequency of your sound? I don't know mine. I figured mine should be high since it is tolerable.

Ok, which audiologist are you going to? Please keep me posted on the outcome of your visit? As in what treatments can they offer. I am also keen to know

You can download a software called NCH Tone Generator. This software generates different frequency tones. Test listening to the tone and once you reach a frequency that you can't seem to hear (as the tone matches your T frequency), then it is likely the frequency of your T.

There is another guy called nogood in the forum here. He is also from Singapore

The audiologist I am seeing is from NUH. I will let you know the outcome.
I am looking around for a good neurootologist (think that is what they are called).. Know of anyone good?

My brain has this continuous whoosing buzzing fuzzy sound through the left ear. Very disturbing..

Waiting for thyroid result.. Cos I am getting cold even in a hot sunny afternoon.

Thanks Joe for your input, too.

I went to NUH's ENT. They are useless to me with regards to this. They will send you for a sound test and then a MRI scan of which all the results will show nothing wrong and then they will tell you to live with it.

Yes, I know what you mean.. That's why I went around asking friends if any doctor in Singapore who can treat this well even if they are from the private sector.

One friend did all tests at Gleneagles and same result.. Got to live with it. Looks like no where else to turn to.

I have yet to go for the detailed Mri at the hospital so I need go see the audiologist. Haven't rule out acoustic neuroma. One Dr suspected me of having Eagle syndrome even. The ear specialist wants me do Mri but one radiologist tells me to do CT scan cos that is the only way to tell. So, I need to find another neuro otologist. I have checked for Tmj through dental specialist and that is negative.

Yesterday night was really bad.. Sound generator can't mask it. I really can't even make out what the sound is like now. Wondering how to tell the audiologist.
Btw, I am being referred to another senior audiologist. The other audiologist can't handle my case cos mine is complicated and severe. I have been told I may need to wear hearing aids to dampen sound in my ears due to hyperacusis.

I can only keep praying it goes away.. Glad to find support group here... I don't think the hospitals in Singapore have support group in this area. Sorry I don't have any thing that works to offer at moment..

Hi all,

Just an update,

1) I noticed consistently for 4 times already, whenever I sit down on my sofa watching TV for more than 1/2 hour, I will get a deafening feeling on my left ear and then followed by loud ringing which goes away only on the next day afternoon. This only happens whenever I sit on my sofa (cursed?) It doesn't happen when I sit anywhere else. Weird?!

2) The ringing tone has progressively gone up from 7-8khz to 12-13khz now, but more importantly it has become softer. I hope if it continues like that, and goes beyond 14-15khz, I'd might not be able to hear it anymore. (Fingers all crossed).

For the meantime, I'll just quit sitting on my sofa watching TV, I guess I'll be fine with no spikes in my T.

I hope you guys have better results with your diminishing T

Only at the sofa? Can I know do you by any chance stay in Marine Parade?

Hi @Patrick@SG how are u doing. Agree with generally doctors are useless when it comes to T. No matter which country they are.
@annty so sorry to hear abt ur T. I almost did all tests too, do PM me if you want someone to talk to. currently suffering from tmj issues.i almost ruled out all other possible/treatable causes. I need to get this tmj treated soon.
MRI and ct scan both got its uses. (I did them both). Depends causes and wht the doctors looking for.
@Thongjy i was staying in amber garden until couple of months ago. Now at kembagan.
happy cyn to all you guys.

How do you determine that your T is due to TMJ issues?

How do you determine that your T is due to TMJ issues?
one major symptom : some times i get tonal T when i have pain in jaws and ears.
Plus other issues like locked jaws. Or limited mobility. Which comes and goes.
i have tmj issues, it does aggrivates the T that much i am sure.

You can try to use a RF meter to check if that area around the sofa have high RF radiation?

I think is probably not high RF radiation. Through time (couple of months) it got better now. I don't get the symptoms anymore when I sit at my sofa already. Thank god, previously I had to stand to watch TV, haha.

But anyway, My T (previously 6-8mhz, volume 6-7) seems to have gone away (since 3 months ago) now I just hear a high pitch (14-15mhz) but its of a low volume (2-3) so it is something I can live with. I thank god for this, caused none of the doctors helped at all.

Thongjy, you are also suffering from T?
