Ringing Strong for Almost 3 Weeks After Using Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones

@HZO That's what I thought too!

There's no spike at the moment??

I feel like mine changes tones when I come out from doing errands but I'm not anywhere loud... but if I do go somewhere "loud" like hanging with friends at a house it spikes the next day... I hate how protective we are with our ears now... who would thought we'd deal with this :/

I went hiking today... it spiked when I got home... is wind considered loud??

Wind definitely can be loud depending on how fast it's going.

Depends on the wind's speed and direction. But I'd say no.

I'm on the third day of Deflazacort/Ginkgo Biloba treatment. Woke up again to near silence, but after a few minutes the ringing built up again. Today's ringing is not a steady high-pitch, now it's more like a cricket at distance.
No spikes today after yesterday's night out at the noisy restaurant. Today I had lunch with my family and they are loud! So, it was again 3/4 hours exposed to sounds around 80dB. Still no spike.

Half an hour ago I took a walk around a quiet park and somehow while I was walking by a church the bell went on and I'd say my ringing went up in volume slightly since then. Maybe from 3/10 to 5/10.

If this progress is being caused by the steroids I hope it stays this way once the 5 day treatment is over.

@HZO Nice! Were you wearing ear plugs at all??

My spike finally came down a bit today but I'm gonna go out to the park later... we'll see how that goes..

Maybe I'll try Ginkgo.

I'm 3.5 months in with noise induced tinnitus. Small pack of firecrackers caused ringing. Multiple tones. They change depending on what I listen to the night before, whether sleeping with the fan, white noise, pink noise etc. currently on 6th day of prednisone. Praying it works even though time has passed for the window of opportunity.

@Jass

Noise induced tinnitus usually improves with time and if hyperacusis is present this also improves. Sometimes specialist treatment is required that I explain my posts below by clicking on the links. Try not to mask or cover-up the tinnitus using a fan or white noise. Instead, use low level sound enrichment using nature sounds particularly at night. During the day nature sounds, music or white noise will suffice but keep the volume below the tinnitus so it's not masking it.

You have mentioned: Praying it works even though time has passed for the window of opportunity. I have no experience of Prednisone, although I have heard some people find it helpful and others don't. Give it time you are in the early stages with tinnitus and it will improve. Reading negative posts and corresponding with negative thinking people in forums equals Negative thinking. Once this takes hold it can seriously affect your mental and emotional wellbeing and prevent you from habituating and moving on with your life. I am very serious about this and it's something you must guard against. Veterans and those seasoned to tinnitus know whereof I speak.

I am not saying never to feel down or occasionally negative about the way tinnitus makes you feel, on the contrary; almost everyone has some difficulty managing this condition especially in the early stages. However, you don't want to make things harder for yourself. Some people at tinnitus forums are quick to diagnose themselves and believe their condition is so serious, time nor any recognised treatment will be of any help. Once this belief and mindset takes hold it can be difficult to change. Unfortunately, their negative views can be equally damaging to others they correspond with or read their posts. It is for this reason I often advise people that once they start tinnitus treatment or find themselves improving, not to discus it too much in forums and if possible, keep away and engage in doing positive things and getting on with their life.

Please click on the links below and take your time and read my posts.
I advise you not to use any type of headphones even at low volume.

I wish you well
Michael

My tinnitus started 3 months ago.

I had all sorts of hearing, ear exams. Not a single drop in hearing, 100% perfect both ears. Perfect shaped ears and canals. I have a deviated nasal septum though, but the doctor thinks I've had it all my life and it is not the cause of my tinnitus. Will have it fixed in a few years anyway...

I'm doing nasal sprays and cleaning with saline solution twice a day. Even if the sinus is not the cause of my tinnitus this treatment won't hurt, the doctor said.

I have some good days, then some bad ones (that are not that bad from what I read about other people's experience). The worst spike was caused by my barber when he used the hair drier directly into my ears. Will definitely wear earplugs the next time I visit.

Also, one of the doctors suggested that my tinnitus may be caused by a difference in ear/sinus pressure. In hindsight my tinnitus started after using a mask during two days while hiking. And whenever I put a mask on my tinnitus gets worse...

Very weird!
