Hello,

About 3 weeks ago I started noticing a faint high-pitched ringing in my left ear. This seemed to come on after going to a concert which left my ears messed up for about 8 hours. This was the first time I'd noticed an actual ringing type sound, but for the last few years, I've noticed that upon being in the car for hours at a time, especially when going from the city to the country, immediately upon turning off the car, I'd notice that there was a roaring sound in the silence. I assumed that this was from listening to loud music while driving for hours, but after taking a long road trip today and NOT listening to lour music, and having the same roaring after the drive, in addition to a noticeable spike in the ringing in my left ear, I'm beginning to have real concerns that somethings is wrong.

Any advice would be highly welcomed.

Mark

Try taking N-Acetylcystiene, 2000mg a day.
How loud is your car?
Perhaps go get a hearing test done.

It's an older car, so somewhat loud. I drove 8 hours yesterday, but did not listen to music the entire way home, but when I got to my folks house, the roar was so loud, it sounded like I just left a Van Halen concert sitting front row.

My doc recently recommended I take Cerefolin NAC. What exactly is N-Acetylcystience?

Are you experiencing any sensitivity to sound? Does anything in your world sound louder than usual?
Yes and yes. It was so bad today I called my doc and asked if I could come in and he said sure. He took one look at my left ear and said it was completely blocked up with wax. He cleaned it out and the ringing has subsided probably 50%, if not more. The roaring is still present, but from last night it has also gone down quite a bit.

What are your thoughts?

See what happens, now that the doctor has treated you. Please post here what happens.

I wouldn't be going to any more concerts...
