Tinnitus Since
Onset:09/23/2017 Worsened: 1/17/2018
Cause of Tinnitus
Acoustic Trauma, worsened by caloric test/VEMP test 90db nhL
After everything that has happened since that caloric test until now (fire alarm twice, haircut, being next to a muffler of a car when walking across parking lot) I got Severe Tinnitus. I am having a hard time typing this as it is so loud. I can hear it over everything just not my shower. I noticed it increasing gradually every day. I am going to start TRT asap.

I know how you must be feeling.
Keep soft relaxing music on around you just as a bit of a distraction and lower anxiety it can cause.
I hope it settles down and you manage to get some sleep tonight.
I used white noise generators for a long time and did help at the time.

As I have previously mentioned to you @dpdx when you start TRT try not to mention it in his forum. I believe it would be better for you to keep away from here and other tinnitus forums too once you start. You need a clear mind and to reduce negative thinking as much as possible and there's too much of it here by some individuals.

Best of luck
Michael

Having severe/ intrusive tinnitus is horrible and I face it 24 hours a day. So you have my empathy for sure and it's not an easy ordeal. In regards to TRT, I had to follow the program for 8-12 months and It required a lot of discipline and motivation to start it and to finish it. As @Michael Leigh said, don't come here discussing your TRT. The last thing you need is to stop your motivation. It is up to you on what you do, of course.....but TRT requires motivation and a strict discipline.

Life with intrusive tinnitus is not easy and it tests even my own willpower each day, but that's life. I am not settling for the life i have right now, I want better outcomes and that means that I must keep pushing against the negative tinnitus flow and keep moving ahead.

I wish you the best of luck :)

its crazy how it just went up since Jan 17 after all the stuff i mentioned. i assumed to get severe t i have to expose myself to a loud sound like going to a club, these minor sounds are causing damage, like an ambulance passing next to me.

Severe/intrusive tinnitus can be a product of loud noise and lots of STRESS. It's hard to know which one is the bigger culprit at times. I always say in my posts that, stress is just as bad as the loud noise and sometimes even more. Stress can keep a spike going, even if the incident was a few days ago to a few weeks. Both have to be controlled as much as possible.

We cannot always control the sound we hear or what we hear. Some will wear ear plugs 24-7 (Not me) and try to remain safe that way. You protect your ears, however you feel that it suits you, but that STRESS can cause havoc and hell and spike and make that tinnitus intrusive as well.

We need to be balanced here, in order to live and thrive with this garbage called tinnitus...
