Cause of Tinnitus

Has anyone had this happen? I have what I think is relatively mild tinnitus. Started 2 weeks ago today. Likely a noise related from concert although my ringing started 2 days later. Anyway, know I have bilateral ear fluid. Seeing ENT Thursday. I came back from grocery shopping and when I turned the car off and just before I felt a pop in my ears and in the quiet of the car, the T the was super loud. Usually when I sit in a quiet car I have to search for it and it is there but not nearly as loud. And this was like an immediate scream. I did not have to search. Now my ears have popped several times in the past two weeks and my T had not changed. So here I am out in the driveway hyperventilating. It went back to baseline pretty quickly, which is the only reason I think I did not totally freak out. Is that normal to have happen? I know loud noises can cause a set back in T and the grocery store was not too loud, and I ran away from the guy who started the vacuum as I entered the store.

Anyone had that experience? I was just starting to resign myself to all this and then that happened and terrified me that I am only going to get worse. I have spoken with a volunteer speaker from the ATA and he said that it is very likely my T will not worsen as long as I care for my ears but he did acknowledge some set backs that he has had but he does return to baseline. He has had it for 30 years.

Thanks

Hi Forever hopeful.
Try stay calm, our ears can spike but soon settles to base line .
If you start to hyperventilate again lying down place one hand in your chest and one on your stomach.
Breath in to the count of three slowly and make your stomach rise too and then breath out slowly to the count of three and repeat till breathing adjusts and calms down....lots of love glynis

Thank you Glynis. I am beginning to wonder if in fact, I have been so careful to mask ( rarely in a quiet room with out talking to someone) always tv, fan, a/c on, that it has been a while since I sat and listened to just the ringing. I think maybe it just scared me because I had not heard it in awhile and perceived it as louder. At times I am mildly aware of it over other noises but most ambient noises cover it up. I didn't hear it once I opened the car door. But I listened for it again in the car later this morning and I think it was just as loud as earlier this am. Oh I so hope I will habituate and be whole again. This is just torture. By the way, I assume Glynis is your first name. I have always loved that name and you do not hear it often, especially here in the States.
