Depends on where you live I guess... Here in Paris there are only few bars with music blasting, a bar is made to talk to people so in general music is around 75 dB. If you want music here you go to a club.I don't think I've ever been to a bar where the music playing was LESS than 75 db. 85-95 db seems to be the norm. As for large groups of people yelling and screaming, that can very easily go over 100 db especially in a confined space.
IMO voices are less damaging than music blasting, cause usually it is not constantly at very high db and it doesn't involve as many frequencies as music
