Hello! I took hydroxychloroquine for four days and developed tinnitus along with sensitivity to sound. This started about three weeks ago.

I have a prescription for prednisone (40 or 20 mg) for five days, but I'm unsure whether I should take it. Could it possibly make things worse?

I'm feeling really terrible about this situation and would appreciate any advice or insights anyone can provide. Thank you!

No, don't take it. Prednisone ruined my life. Trust me—if you don't have hearing loss, it's unnecessary. Please don't make the same mistake I did. They gave me tinnitus, reactive tinnitus, dysacusis, and visual snow.

You should consult your doctor first and foremost. It might also be helpful to ask the r/Lupus community for additional insights.

The majority of people with Lupus take hydroxychloroquine and prednisone. These medications can be life-saving.
