Just curious: Does anyone here sing in a group, either as an amateur or professional? And if so, how does affect your T?

I sing (for fun) in a small ensemble as well as with a large community choral group. I had my first rehearsal with the large group last night, after our summer recess, and my ears were buzzing loudly when we were done. The noise fortunately diminished in a few hours but am wondering what to expect. Already have invested in some custom-made musicians ear plugs (as much for noisy restaurants as music) and am hoping that will do the trick.

if your ears are buzzing, then protect them. Usually custom made earplugs for singers are only 9db protection because above you can hear yourself too much, it resonates in the head

Thanks, James. So what level of db protection is needed?
I think the ones I got have two filters, with two different db levels.

I developed tinnitus in June - no apparent trigger but I've always had a bit of a problem with vibrational noises - such as heating system, fridge noise etc and any sort of rumbling noises. I've recently re-joined a choir and have been horrified that the singing seems to have triggered a nasty spike. My T sounds like a plane droning overhead and is very hard to mask it or distract from it because it feels almost physical. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Think I may have posted this in the wrong place - new to forum

Singing with in-ear plugs is what did me in, not the same as earplugs obviously but beware of the occlusion effect
