Cause of Tinnitus
? Music studio/back issues/stress?
Anyone here have a handle on this topic, experience or that can expand on somatosounds or somato sound?

AND

Is this related to being able to quiet my 10-11k T for a few minutes with a tone generator at the same frequency?

Thanks

Somatosound is a perceived tone of varying volume and pitch of which the patient is aware, although no sound is audible to anyone else.

'You have just described tinnitus. A somatsound is something different. Somatosound is the preferred term for what used to be called objective tinnitus.

Like when you hear the blood circulation in your ears?
Yes, exactly. Or like this venous hum in the "second recording patient's left ear." Click below.

What makes these internally-generated somatosounds different from the internally-generated sounds of tinnitus is that somatosounds start out as sound waves.

No, that's residual inhibition. Nothing to do with somatosounds.

Thanks Dr. Nagler,

Is there a way for the residual inhibition to be teased out into longer periods?

I'm about three weeks into a strong bout of my first tinnitus, with the incredible stress I've been under I'm thinking whatever tiny bit was there before, and there was a tiny bit, has been fertilized by the anxiety. It's an insidious cycle.

Can't say thank you enough for helping us out.

Questino,

Yes it seems to work for a minute or two. It is nice but alas, if there is a way to drag it out I would like the technique.. I am in the recording studio a lot with volume levels around 70 to 80db. It becomes difficult because I can hear it in the mix and especially mastering. Not to mention sleeping, quiet rooms and...well you know the drill....I am trying to make peace with it, and belive there is a way. Well there is isn't there?

Thanks Dr. Nagler,
You are welcome.

Unfortunately no. Indeed, if you can figure out a way to predictably and appreciably lengthen residual inhibition, there's likely a Nobel Prize in it for you!
