Some Thoughts on Research

I am new on this site and I am sure there will be many of you who will think what I am about to say may be a bit silly, but as my journey with tinnitus continues some thoughts on research have been coming into my mind.

My husband's grandfather drove a gun carriage at paschendale during the First World War. He did not come home with tinnitus after months of being amongst the noise that all of that will have entailed.

This has got me thinking as to why some people may be prone to tinnitus fairly easily whilst others can go through mayhem and still not suffer with it.

I wonder if tinnitus sufferers have a common thread no matter how their tinnitus has been caused, maybe something as simple as a vitamin or mineral shortage which is not easily recognised. Silly, but many puzzles have been solved by thinking outside the box as they say.

My next thought will really give you all something to think about.

My tinnitus becomes worse (as if it's not bad enough) after I've eaten. I have never been able to understand why, today I thought it must be my ears listening to my busy digestive system, if our tinnitus is our internal body sounds. This then led me to the thought, what if those tiny little hair cells are actually there to prevent us from being able to hear our 'internal' body sounds!

Daft, I know, but sillier things have been known.

Any researchers out there maybe you can either laugh this off or see it as food for thought.

If your tinnitus gets worse every time you eat, consider getting your jaw looked at and/or getting a back, neck, and face massage.
