I hate the time right before my period starts! It's so damn loud! My ringing is not only reactive but it's even worse tonight and it's driving me crazy. I've read that this can happen for other women. So awful. I just want to sleep. Beautiful, blissful sleep.

@fishbone I forget I have a one year old that still sleeps with us and he managed to wake me up several times last night. Woke up and my anxiety really was getting to me. Trying to cope and be there for my boy.

@TuneOut I've heard the increase in hormones and blood can cause the tinnitus to go up temporarily. But I realized that I also have reactive tinnitus and its been a awful lately.

Ugh, I feel your pain on hormones impacting tinnitus. As if they don't cause enough havoc. I cannot even imagine how awful menopause will be!

Just try to hang in there, we ladies are tough and you'll make it!

Thank you! I'm trying...my son is everything and I just want to be his mom.

If I try to mask my tinnitus at all it tries to compete with the noise and gets louder. I just have to try and sleep with the ring.
I have that as well. I've had it for a month and a half now. Been sadly mines been getting worse. Not that it's gotten louder, but I keep getting new tones. Been hell for me.

I've seen other women say the same thing on here. All I can say is tinnitus can mess with your head, and it ain't an easy ride. But, You've got the full support of everyone on here. Like fishbone said, just vent away, because it really helps to offload your emotions onto others. Your son is lucky to have such a caring mom, so I hope you find some respite. All the best to you.

That truly means a lot. I will let myself cry it out a ton, that can help a little and I like checking with the forum. I'm trying to go about my day...give my son a bath, feed him lunch, read to him. I started taking Alpha Lipoic Acid to see if that would help just a bit and tons of clean eating.

I have had very similar thoughts. Tinnitus with young children . . . well it's an added complication. It's challenging to be present and engaged when you're dealing with intrusive tinnitus.

Children are naturally full of energy and loud. Sometimes they just can't help it, and their sweet voices hit frequencies that most adult voices do not. My children laughing, calling for me when they're hurt, getting excited when they play -- all those things cause my tinnitus to spike. And it seems like everything they do from school productions to birthday parties to sports is ridiculously loud. I'd have a quieter life if I was not a parent.

But then again, my kids give me strength, support, comfort and joy. They need me, and your little one needs you too.

You had tinnitus when your son was born, right? Oh my gosh, you are truly a rock star for handling a newborn, post partum hormones, and tinnitus. Seriously, I'm in awe -- you're amazing!
