Does anyone else have mild tinnitus that can only be heard in a quiet room that sometimes for a few hours on end can't be heard at all? Mine is really weird.

I wish too...
Great to hear you are coping ok and nice to hear good news...lots of love glynis

Yes I do. Mine is also slight to mild and I also have silence at times. I only hear it in the quiet or in silence. It was brought on by the stress of caring for my sick mother then going through the bereavement 2 years ago.

However, because I have OCD, depression and panic attacks, the anxiety that my tinnitus causes has so far taken two years of enjoyment off my life.

I don't think I'll ever be free of the fear of it getting worse.

Consider looking into med's to tweak your brain chemistry out of OCD rituals of repetition in conjunction with behavior modification. Panic attacks in my experience can be abated episodically by taking a benzo 'as needed' like Ativan or Xanax. Perhaps you know the circumstances that precipitate your anxiety. If OCD driven, lack of control is a big factor so maybe you even anticipate your panic attacks and can medicate going in.

I am pretty astounded by what seems to be the foundation of those predisposed to tinnitus on this forum. Anxiety and OCD...mild or moderate seem like cornerstones of T based upon all the anecdotal accounts. No doubt this brain chemistry 'type' is an underlying causal factor to tinnitus.

I truly believe my OCD is not letting me forget about this shit, wish I could just forget about it !!

In my personal opinion people with T should not touch Benzos.
In fact try to stay away from all drugs.
