Hi, is it possible to have a spike after a sudden movement of the neck? During a work meeting, I briefly closed my eyes and woke up with a sudden movement with my neck. Starting to panic which isn't helping. My tinnitus is now louder.

@Brooklyn NY Loss of neck motion, bending neck, jarring head can send aberrant neurological input into the CNS which can underlie hypertonicity of the stapedius and tensor tympani muscles. It also could have origin from neck nerves, arteries or an off placement of c spine. Any of this can complicate fluid travel to the ears. All common with tinnitus, although this sort of stuff could be cause. You wrote this in another post:

"It seems that the jarring motion of driving on an uneven surface shook up my tinnitus. It happens if I bang my head accidentally as well or other such head trauma..."

Thanks for replying. It just seemed to me to be such a minor event that I was surprised that it could affect the sound level of my t. It's slightly better this morning, but still higher than the normal level. Should it eventually go down again? Thanks....

@Brooklyn NY Yes, it is possible. This happened to me last Spring while I was stretching my neck. I felt a stabbing pain from my neck straight up to my head. Two days later I had terrible neck pain, the worst headaches I've ever had, and the low humming became really loud. I did physical therapy for about 3 months. I got better about 6 months later.

Hope you feel better soon.

That is what intensified my T just this week. I've had it 20 years and have not been bothered by it badly for the last 10-15 years. TUesday night I fell asleep in chair, neck bent, cell phone rang and my T screamed. Have not been able to calm it down since.
Never would have made the association if you hadn't said something.
Thanks!
