Hi Every one ,
I had two noise exposure about a month ago ..around oct 16th my burglar alarm went off and I had to turn it off ..was exposed for about 7-8 seconds ..about 10 days later one moron screamed right next to my ears !!well not scream but spoke loudly ( about 98 DB )..
My T has spiked after both incident..I had such a good time for about 1 year and now I feel I am back in hell..
Can any please tell me if they had similar incident ..how long did spike lasted ?is this permanent ?
It's not a mega spike like spike i had after a concert but it bothers me at night .
PLEASE HELP !!

Oh yes. MANY similar incidents like this, for over 40 years.
During this 'healing' phase, I stick cotton in my ears. Yes, it's harder to hear, and yes, the T is louder, BUT...
when I take the cotton out after a few days or weeks, the outside sounds are up front and the T goes way down. I've been a victim of the alarm where I work, several times.

I had this several times before, I always panick about it but it has always come back down so far for me.

It is very hard to do after such a thing happens but try not to put all the focus on your T after such a thing happens and try and keep calm, often the panick and focus on the T is worse than the actual (very short) noise exposure.

Hi Sean, I'm going through a change in T as well at the minute, but for me i don't know if its connected with noise exposure or not?...a week ago I was awoken in the morning by my dad using a circular power saw in the garden, then I went into the kitchen to make breakfast and then he used the circular saw again but this time the kitchen window was open and he was only the other side of the window!

I didn't notice a difference in my T at the time or in the day, but every night in bed I'm noticing my T is aggravated, especially when i wake up in the middle of the night, fluctuating slightly with different tones, the usual roar is turning into a high pitched whistle, its not a dramatic change like before but it noticeable at night my T is starting to feel 'unstable' again and with that my anxiety/stress levels are starting to rise again, I think my biggest fear is the change isn't from loud noise but just a random worsening in T!....that is completely out of my control.

So I'm right there with you at the minute buddy, we've just got to try and stay calm (I know its hard) and not let the b*****d tinnitus take over again! The limbic system is on red alert again its difficult to control. Hopefully its only a temporary spike for you.

I use ear plugs instead .
My Aunty was using cotton and small piece got stuck in her years and got infected ..now her ear drug has a hole !
May Be it was her mistake and she might have put small pieces of cotton .
Good thing about cotton is ppl can't see it ..but it only provides about 7dbor so protection..thanks for the word of encouragement .

Thanks @iwholovemusic.
In the past my spike due to noise exposure has subsides ..I don't knkw why I am panicking so badly .
Sounds familiar. I learned not to trust my past healing experiences, and not to trust people who tell me I'll be alright after a while, loud music won't hurt me. Well, it hurts. And the more I exposed myself to loudness the longer it took to get back to the baseline. A few years ago I suffered for a couple years getting the T back down. I'll never go to a loud concert again. And I'm constantly on guard for loud environmental sounds. Good luck.

Thanks ..I agree with you .Its a really a foolish to think you can be brave and go to loud events ..pure foolishness.
I would never go to concert perioid ! I am just afraid I will be forced to attend a loud bar or a wedding party one day and it would really really suck to get out ..but I will get out no matter what .

How long did it take for T to settle after Alaram incident ?for me it's been more than 2 months and I still hear T in silence .
Before I could barley hear it ..I doubt it would have caused more damage in 10 seconds ..may be it's just irritated ??

You couldn't hear your T in silence before? Sounds like this is more a mental thing and not a T thing

I could barely hear it ..very low volume so It didn't bother me at all.
Now I hear it in silence and also in not to loud room .
From past experience I think it should go down but 2 months seem pretty long .

Well..if it's still that low you should be fine. Honestly, it just sounds like you are giving it too much thought.

Nah I wouldn't worry after my cold it took like 2-3 months for the rushing feeling to go away.
Hearing cells are sensitive and need more time to heal than say a broken bone.

Hi Sean, I just experienced a spike from one of those high pressure hoses at a commercial car wash. So you're not alone with the spike issues. And you might remember my tire explosion last fall too. That seemed to make a permanent change that I've never fully recovered from. I'm coping fine most of the time but have my moments.

Dan- I remember your tire explosion accident. Didn't you fully recover from it?

I don't experience super quiet days quite like I did before that incident, I'm so sorry to say. But I seem to still be adjusting fairly well most of the time. But I'm very afraid of loud noises and places and it causes relationship problems at times.
