Cause of Tinnitus
Bad luck and bad decisions
Hi all,

Normally my hearing in right ear is significantly worse than my left ear, especially in higher frequencies. This also means that my T is in general louder on the right side. However this night I suddenly experienced an extremely severe spike in T in my left ear, I'd say that the volume went up 500% (maybe to 70-75 db) and it was way louder (300%) than my right ear, this normally never happens. Therefore I woke up and noted that I couldn't hear the fan sound of my computer with my good ear (left) but I easily could with my bad ear (right). Also some high pitched sound in the bathroom could only be heard with my right ear. Other louder sounds (such as a youtube video) could be heard with both ears, so it's not that I was deaf in my left ear or something.

About 1,5 hours later that T spike in my left ear is gone and it seems that my hearing ability also returned to normal in my left ear. My question is:

Is it possible that the very loud T spike in my left ear prevented me from hearing certain noises as the T completely masked the external noise or did I have SSHL in my left ear that recovered within a couple of hours?

Tinnitus spikes can cause a fluctuation in your hearing till the spike settles...lots of love glynis
