Star Wars

Wow, Mr. Reeves has got tinnitus... wish we could get these guys on board, advocating... I loved the Matrix trilogy... awesome. Keanu has a reputation as being a very cool unpretentious guy... Roger Waters posted on the forum, but I never heard from him again... maybe it was him, maybe not.

Coming into the dry season now in Laos...
Less rain to mask the sounds. Do you have a sound machine?

Nope... no masking...

Just getting accustomed to it... everybody's different.

I am a candidate for hearing aids, but really don't want anything near my ears projecting sound. Next year I am going to Thailand to try some hearing aids out, that might just get rid of the tinnitus. I am feeling positive all things considered ,life can be cruel... I was never naive about that. I am adjusting... you are too... I think you are going to beat this beast... just stay positive, be healthy. Your reports on your ears I've interpreted as fleeting, fading tinnitus. I pray that's the case. Just protect yourself and try and have fun...

P.S. Our politics are pretty on par... I just don't go there on this site... you got to pick your battles... you are a veteran... save your energy... no stress.

Open your eyes and look at this. LOOK AT THIS.

Look how awesome this is, writing, acting, story, soundtrack, cinematography, this is what a climax looks like.

The prequels sucked, bad. They were boring, especially episode 2. The Revenge of the Sith was okay because it wrapped up the transition in the last 20 minutes. Actually it sucked. The new trilogy sucks way worse that the prequel trilogy, if that were even possible. Easily possible because it interjected modern SJW bullshit themes.
The best thing lately was Rogue One. That is how ALL the new movies should have been. Mostly serious, full of action and very little cheese. The new main trilogy is just so horrible.

Hello everyone!

I've decided to start a Star Wars thread for all things Star Wars! Are you a current Star Wars fan? Interested in starting to watch it? Have watched it but are interested in getting into it more?

With the upcoming Episode 9: Rise of Skywalker movie, the final installment of the Skywalker saga, which started over 40 years ago in 1977, I think it would be a great idea to talk Star Wars! Personally I've been a huge fan all my life, even since childhood, including reading the books, comics, video games, animated series, pretty much everything that is Star Wars.

In case anyone wants to talk about leaks / spoilers, please add a ***Spoiler Alert*** to your comments, to not ruin it for those who want to learn it all for the first time on the big screen.

So let's hear it! Is anyone excited for Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker releasing December 20, 2019? Are you excited for the any of the spin offs like The Mandalorian? Excited for the return for the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars?
I can't wait to see Rise of Skywalker! Although I'm terrified to see it in the cinema as it'll be my first cinema trip since tinnitus.

I've also been loving The Mandalorian! Gotta love baby yoda

Yeah I'll be watching it in the cinema too but I've done it before since getting tinnitus, just use ear plugs. I use the musicians type that only reduced somewhat so I can still hear the movie fine and I've never gotten a spike from it.

The baby yoda idea was great, I just don't like that they haven't actually named the species yet. I've seen them called Groglings before but I'm not sure if it's official. The baby yoda memes are the best though lol

I'm not sure I can use earplugs yet because of my perforation! Annoying! I'll have to ask my ent.

I get that but I kind of like how mysterious it is! Yesss haha the memes are the best

Did you get an intratympanic injection?

You should be able to wear earplugs, I did and have regularly after getting one about a month ago, but I guess it's good to ask.

Have you watched the Clone Wars?

Nope I haven't had anything yet! Been waiting months for an ent appointment! I hope they offer an injection before offering surgery!

The injection I got was from a clinical trial. I either got the placebo or the drug doesn't work because it hasn't helped with the ringing at all. Hopefully your ENT can help you, but it really depends on what's causing the tinnitus.

Yes Clone Wars is amazing. The first season is a bit too kid friendly, but from the second it just keeps getting better and better after that. The story arcs are perhaps the best I've seen for any show, they're very profound despite the funny looking animation.

I haven't seen any of the new movies. I saw 4-6 and 1-3. Disney has been pissing me off to be honest.

You're not missing out, they aren't any good lol

Not at all like the other Star Wars. That being said I'm still watching the new one on the premier date. I've heard Lucas might've actually had to be called in to fix it.

Didn't D&D (the directors of Game of Thrones) get hired to work on Star Wars?

Looks like the Rise of Skywalker was a giant exercise in gas-lighting. It got terrible reviews and the establishment is blaming the fans.

"The Rise of Skywalker is possibly worse than any prior Star Wars "episode." It ends a legendary franchise with a thud while denying this new trilogy its artistic reason for existence. It represents the cultural theft of Star Wars from today's kids by today's arrested-development-stricken adults. Star Wars was a franchise first and foremost for children, and the kids who grew up with Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and the MCU have embraced harsh truths and challenging narratives. Lucasfilm and Disney's The Rise of Skywalker feels explicitly crafted for the "Rian Johnson ruined Star Wars!" and "George Lucas ruined my childhood!" demographics, right down to its near erasure of Kelly Marie Tran's Rose Tico."

So when Disney creates a bad movie it's not their fault, it's the fans fault for expecting a quality movie that is built on a very good foundation with the original trilogy.

This reminds me of the TRT and CBT practitioners insinuating that if tinnitus bothers you then it's your fault, or Apple telling you that if their phones brick and you lose your data it's your fault for not using the cloud to make backups. It's called gas-lighting.

I've been following the mixed critic reviews, and yes noticed more are bad than not. If the leaks I heard are correct it is probably gonna be terrible. Either way I'm watching it tonight.

I read the plot and to be honest, it kinda seems like it might be good. Some of the complaints I read were that they took Rose out. Uh, that's a good thing.

I'm about to post a nasty spoiler.

I was pretty stoked to pick up a CD of the film today. I actually couldn't finish it, but I was digging it. I can't go to theaters because of my ears. So yah, today was sweet. I told my kids about the first film and how I was a young buck watching from a school bus on a summer's eve in New Hampshire at a drive in theater. Seeing it as a kid was awesome. It was nice to see the old cast, the droids and robots, and everything that is camp and naive that is Star Wars.

I am a fan... it was fun... I will finish it tomorrow. Ha!
