Cause of Tinnitus
Not Sure
So I started Prozac three days ago. I knew going into it that it can increase tinnitus, but after a decade of depression and other methods I needed help from an SSRI.

Since taking it I feel I've been pretty focused on my tinnitus since I was worried about it getting worse. I can't tell if it has spiked, gotten worse or stayed the same. But, any habituation I had of it has gone and I'm starting to freak out and wonder if I should discontinue the Prozac.

I would hate for this to get any worse. I'm just having some bad anxiety over whether or not it's the same, worse, or spiked.

Eghhhhhh!!!!

Prozac may not be the right antidepressant for you. Give it a little more time, and see how it goes. Most people have to try a few different types, before sticking with one that works.

I would stop it! An SSRI and/or a betablocker brought on my T. I would really stick with the other methods if you can.

Zoloft (Sertraline) increased my tinnitus after the 2nd night. I heard a new pitch and it woke me up. It was very high. I suffered even more. I took it for 2 weeks and then decided to get off. I did suffer a bit of withdrawal.

If you are wanting to stick this out, think whether you'd want to drop it now with minimal withdrawals or whether you'll stick it out to 2-4 weeks or more.

I have a baseline hum, but now I feel like I can hear an even higher pitched tone that kind of sounds like it goes in an out at a very fast rate (couple times a second).

I'm not sure if I've ever noticed this before or if it's because I just started fluoxetine. I've been hyper aware and worried about my tinnitus since starting this drug 4 days ago. I'm not sure if I'm just paying more attention to it, but I swear it seems like it's a higher frequency at times.

7 days ago I started taking 5m of Prozac. I think it's given me a spike in my tinnitus or I'm just hyper-focused on it, and I cannot stop worrying and freaking out about it. This morning I woke up and I've been crying ever since. I feel like I've made my tinnitus worse when I KNEW SSRIs can cause or make it worse. But, I've been so depressed for so long I finally broke down and succumbed to taking them. I just want to be happy. I really don't know if my tinnitus is worse, if my anxiety/stress/first week for SSRI is making it worse, or what.

I'm afraid to continue taking Prozac in fear it will make my tinnitus worse. But, I've read coming off them can also make your tinnitus worse. Just like I've read changing doses can make it worse.

I feel like I've opened pandora's box by taking Prozac and now I'm stuck.

I'm in the midst of a panic attack. I can't stop crying. My ears are ringing.

Please, someone just talk to me.
