Tinnitus Since
june 9th 2013
It has been a little over 2 years that I have tinnitus, I've come a very long way. Still ringing but my life has been great. I started a support group on face book, not a big group but for anyone in Hawaii that found it hard to deal with like I did when I first got T. Tinnitus Talk was my main come to place and I felt safe here cause many of you understood me. And that brought comfort to me. I have been away from this site for awhile which is a good thing, my life has gone back to normal dealing with T, there are days when I just forget I even have it, and yes days when a spike will come and last 3 days but I know I will be fine. Those of you who are new to this, it will get better.

I wanted to stop by and say hello to all the old timers , don't know if you remember me but I'm still going on and life is great.

I still live on and believe one day there will be silence to all who suffer, I'm here for anyone who need to talk, vent, or ask me questions . Mahalo for your time ..

2 weeks today. Believe I got from amitriptylene which I only took for 6 days. Feel hopeless but must go on. Have a family. Where is best place to seek help? Should I try to accept or hold out hope that it goes away?

Crying can help in one way as it releases endorphins which calm you down and make you feel tired.
If you needed amitriptylene for depression maybe you still need something now for it.

But now hesitant to take any drugs since that's what caused it. Vicious loop. Was 75 mg amitriptylene and it worked for 6 days - was feeling good until this and now worse than before. But still work and manage to get through each day. It's a battle.

Anyone out there have it go away after taking an antidepressent? Saw where a few had it go away in 12 to 48 days.
Was mostly taking the antidepresent to get over the hump and sleep - and now this.

But it may not actually have been the antidepressant that caused it, but the reason you needed it in first place, thats the mystery. Reason to need an antidepressant is enough to cause T.

Well the antidepressent worked quickly. Felt much better the very next day. Maybe I should try it again at a lower dose or try a different one.
Also - I was depressed about 4 months and took st johns wort but it didn't work so decided to use amitriptylene per doctors suggestion. 6 days of feeling good then ear began to ring. Plan was to use for month or so and wean off. But now that have tinnitus I Stopped All and take xanax to sleep. Don't know what to do and feel I'm not thinking straight so maybe others like u can provide some guidance.

Congrats Chris....X

@Trying Hard: you have options.

Have you thought of trying a serotonin precursor ie 5htp (theres a thread on here about this) and melatonin instead of xanax to sleep?

Hypnotherapy (ample youtube videos out there)

Cbt/mindfulness (importantly..read the back to silence thread)

Exercise ...
