Do these make your tinnitus louder? I have been so stressed and busy with other worries recently that i didnt notice how loud my tinnitus was until now. It is ringing like a bell and very unpleasant.

Tinnitus is one of lifes great miseries. How can it be so cruel and unfair. Not everyone suffers like this

True, but everyone has something. Always there are those who seem to suffer less in life and those who suffer more. As with many illnesses, the mind-body connection is very very real. Tinnitus is a real challenge, but is also an opportunity to learn, grow, connect. I was so upset when I realized that I, a person who loved silence more than anyone I knew, had lost that joy. Now, I just want to look ahead to find good ways to cope. And I also believe in another existence after this one... where I won't have T or H. For now, I'll enjoy the ambient music I'm discovering.

Stress and lack of sleep definitely makes your tinnitus worse.

how long can the spike last?

Anywhere from a matter of hours to months. However, I only experienced one that lasted months since 1978. Most of the time it's a matter of hours or for the rest of the day. Sometimes they've lasted from several days to a couple of weeks after being sick.
