Cause of Tinnitus
Loud music
Went to the movies for the first time since getting severe tinnitus six months ago. Wife really pleased - she's been getting upset about the fact that we can no longer do all the things we used to do together, so that's another milestone crossed.

The movie was Downton Abbey at our local Showcase. (I wouldn't go to the Vue or Odeon as I find them a lot louder.) Her choice, but actually quite enjoyed it. No car chases or explosions to be found in this one! Had to hang around in the corridor awkwardly during the ads and trailers, though I could have gone back to the foyer I guess and sat there, but didn't want to have any problems getting in and finding my seat. I had pre-booked them to be as near to the back and the aisle as possible.

Only a couple of points where the music swelled a little bit. I measured 84 dB at one point, but I was fine as I had foam plugs in and covered my bad ear at those points with my hand.

No tinnitus spikes or any problems afterwards. I still won't be going to the Star Wars movie however!

How about using some mild hearing protectors? (i.e. foam plugs inserted in a way you can still hear stuff but readjust them during loud scenes)

I used to use musician's silicon earplugs for movies when my tinnitus was mild and I had no hyperacusis. Hoping I can get back to that one day.

The dialog was clear enough in this movie, but sometimes you do miss stuff with foamies.

EDIT: I had foam plugs firmly inserted for this one throughout.

Amazing Muso! Very happy for you - it's the little things like that that matter! Knowing that you can start to reintegrate back into a "normal life".

And no spike! Fantastic!

Tinnitus is going to have you watching more chick flicks, I guess. ;)
