Valeri,
I've had reactive T since day one. My head hisses like a pit of vipers, on top of a high pitched ringing or whistle. Certain noises and sounds can cause it to spike. Just keep track of things that aggravate your T and try to avoid them. For me, just living and breathing aggravates my T. It sucks! }:-(
You and I have very similar T. Mine sounds more like cicadas, but occasionally the cicada sound gets more diffuse and then it becomes a snake pit. I even put a cicadas and a snake pit sound effect on my iPhone so I could play it for people who don't understand how bad tinnitus can actually be.My head hisses like a pit of vipers, on top of a high pitched ringing or whistle. Have to say that this sound is mild compared to mine!Thank you for those sounds, finally I was able to tell my husband what I hear.
Those noises are bad on their own but once they start reacting/competing with noises around me I'm a goner![]()

Mine is a one high pitched sound that is now louder than anything else i listen to...Turn the volume up![]()
I downloaded those sounds because I was tired of people telling me, "Oh, it's only a little buzz, you'll get used to it." Now when I play those sounds for them, they draw back in horror. I'm not trying to overdramatize my situation, just want them to understand that my tinnitus isn't just a little buzz or hum that only appears in quiet surroundings.@Cheza

Is this the one being reactive for you too and you @Sailboardman?
Those sounds don't bother me at all, my T is horrendous in comparison to this. The noise I hear is shrill hurts my ears and head. That noise is slightly annoying but fairly smooth and easy on the ears.I downloaded those sounds because I was tired of people telling me, "Oh, it's only a little buzz, you'll get used to it." The cicada tones are the reactive ones. I take deep breaths when it starts ramping up, and tell myself the noise can settle down. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Good to know that your husband cares enough to try to empathize with what you're going through. For a genuine experience, put the file on repeat play on his iPhone and have him listen to it for a solid week. Most people would run screaming for the hills![]()
Your T is definitely worse. Nails on a blackboard kind of worse. Those sounds don't bother me at all, my T is horrendous in comparison to this. I worry when I hear samples like this, I feel like I have something totally different than 99 percent of T sufferers out there.
