Hello guys,

So I finished Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi a month ago and really want a new anime to watch.

I am rather picky with the type of anime I like and it should be matching some of the criteria:

  • Dark/Mystery/Sci-fi/Mature (Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi (Erased), Steins;Gate)
  • Preferably rather new, within last 5-6 years. I don't really like the anime style of the older ones.
  • No quirky or like immature animes (Gakku Gurashi was the only that I liked in this genre, but that is mostly due to the dark twist that is has after episode 1).
  • No romantic or ecchi animes :)
I sound so picky! But yeah, dark and bloody - my kind of anime :D

Thanks!

@Fangen Have you watched Death Parade? I think it might have the amount of scary bits, very dark parts, and almost gorish parts mixed with some real thought-provoking things for you.

@Jamie m: Watched already :)
@rzhang: Seen it twice :D
@Danny Boy: They more or less make only movies, seen most of them :)
@derpytia: I loved Death Parade, found it very interesting theme. Too bad it seems that they are not making a season 2, since a lot of questions are left without answer. I did like the ending of it.
@Sgguy46, looks interesting :) I'll start reading about and see if it catches my eyes!

Thanks everyone!

When Marnie Was There is really good. It's mature and mysterious. It more so about a social outcast/figuring out who you are type of movie. But it's very deep and powerful. And became one of my absolute favorites.

I know you said you don't watch older but you're missing out if you don't watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's one of the most important and influential pieces of media out of Japan in the past 30 years.

You should also watch Madoka Magica.

Along with Steins;Gate, those are the top 3 all time series in my eyes.

For something completely different (but amazing in it's own right) watch One Punch Man.

I have heard about it and yes, I should but I tend to have some difficulties to keep interest in the older ones. Usually the style/story telling is vastly different from the new ones and it makes it hard for me to finish them.
I hope they make an anime of Chaos;Child and that it gets to the West soon! I want an Western localization of the game too!
I watched OPM in like two days, I loved it! Right up my alley, the humor was wonderful! Waiting impatiently for season 2 :D

You won't regret it. Just remember to watch the movie (The End of Evangelion) afterwards for maximal full impact.

Ajin- Heard that was nice and bloody
HunterxHunter
Nabari No Ou- A better Naruto
Fairy Tail
D-GrayMan- THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES PLS WATCH IT.
Black Lagoon is one of my favorites too. Badass characters.
Cowboy Bebop may have a older art style but it's really good.

Hello! My favorite animes are :
My Hero Academia , Assassination Classroom , Sword art Online (season 1-2) , Katekyo Hitman Reborn! , Bleach , Blood Lad , Death Note and there are a few more that i forgot the name to :) Watch some of them or all of them! They are really good! (Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is a comedy until episode 18 then it gets a bit serious , but it still has that comedyfeel to it!)

I can't believe nobody has recommended Higurashi no Naku Koro ni yet. Amazing mystery horror anime! My favorite one, in fact.

Hello, i have watched Another, Eva, Death note, Aboslute Bullet i am trying to get into, i have only seen a few episodes on and off, i have watched all of popular anime movies out there, i used to be in the AF on myspace, I was introduced to anime at a very young age, the Giganitor was one of my earliest ones, I bounce from magna to manga. :)

This is a rather good anime film-

Makoto Shinkai is one of the best anime directors in Japan at the moment, some say he's The New Miyazaki.

Check out some his films, if you so please-
