So I noticed there was not a thread for Synchron. At this stage I think Synchron has a better chance than Neuralink. Synchron has already entered human trials in Australia. Synchron has the same idea as Neuralink by using technology to access different areas of the brain, in the future allowing them to treat neurological disorders and they claim hearing loss as one of them.

"The Stentrode device is implanted into the motor cortex of the brain through the jugular vein in a minimally invasive procedure that the company says takes about two hours. Once implanted, it translates brain activity into a standardized digital language to allow users to complete tasks on external devices, including texting, emailing, online shopping and accessing telemedicine."

This company is starting small first. Their first patient was able to control his phone with the implant. This patient I believe has complete paralysis. First giving people the ability to use tech with their minds is very important and gives people with disabilities a better life. They believe having better access to the brain and having humans combined with artificial intelligence will shed More light on neurological disorders and in the future.

On their list some things include, loss of vision, seizures, hearing loss, memory loss, depression, sleep disorders, and loss of movement. If this progresses and passes trials this could change the world forever and help millions of people with many diseases.

I definitely believe this could treat tinnitus in the future. We should keep tabs on this company because there is some serious potential. I am excited to see their progress in the upcoming years.

The Science | Synchron

Good idea as they are the leaders with human trials under their belt, however the sheer access Neuralink has to capital should see them overtake Synchron. I have wondered before why they don't just acquire the company.

Yeah, you make a good point, with Elon's capital, and Synchron's implant method, that would be a big success. And not sure if you heard the news, Neuralink is in trouble from getting caught abusing the monkeys. Could be fake news but we will find out. Either way people hate animal abuse so if it's true, they're going to have some big hoops to jump.

Yeah not exactly sure about the Australian ones, the patients had the chips put in last year, they couldn't walk, now they can walk again. I haven't heard any more news besides the new trials in NY. I guess time will tell.
That's unbelievable if that's true, this looks like a great company to invest in if they go public!

What the hell are you talking about them being able to walk again! That's not even close to being true.

It did allow the participants to communicate by text and use a computer.

Synchron announces long-term safety results with Stentrode device for severe paralysis

He states that neurons cannot be fixed - wrong. They are just slow to regenerate naturally and we need drugs that can speed regeneration.

That being said - if this is like Neuralink, it may have cool applications.
I think so too. We have on the list | Invasively:

- Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
- Neuralink
- Neurosoft Soft Implantable Electrodes
- Synchron
