I know this is not related to tinnitus, and I know comparing diseases doesn't really help our own current demonic noise, however I feel this is a touching and inspiring story, how a Finnish woman dealt and continues to deal with what I would think is one of the worst possible adversities one could encounter in life.

From the description of the video:

Imagine if you would get a stroke and get completely paralyzed – you would not be able to walk or talk and there would be no possibility to recover. You would still understand and remember everything, including your feelings and your thoughts, but you would not be able to scream nor struggle. Not to mention getting away from your life situation – you would be trapped in your own body. How would you make life worth living?

Kati Lepistö is one of the most touching speakers of TEDx Turku 2015, because this story is not an "imagine if" case, but her reality. Kati's dream was to work as an international model before this life-changing incident. With a fixed goal she entered the model world of Los Angeles and Milano, making her dream come true. One day this stroke turned her world upside down and Kati was forced to change her dreams of being a model to the life of living with quadriplegia.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Poor woman. Now I feel bad for complaining about my current situation. Tinnitus may be devastating to get, but getting paralyzed and not be able to walk or talk makes tinnitus look like a walk in the park.

Thank you for sharing the link with us. It really shows us that we should be thankful for what we have, and not concentrate on things we don't have.

Always the one to bring joy and positivity to the thread.
Yes, I guess after a couple of years on tinnitus forum, some of us become a bit, ahem, "numb".

Just looked her up and read her blog: http://lifeparalyzed.blogspot.com/s...-max=2012-01-01T00:00:00-05:00&max-results=36

One thing that stood out to me was her regrets of not having a living will / advanced directive before her accident.
I hate how these documentaries paint a pretty picture and a full of platitudes while ignoring anything negative.

This reminded me of Two Arms and a Head, I read the guy's thread before I had known he killed himself then read his book.
