Guys, it's winter now, and we're stoking a stove (fireplace) with chopped wood. You know that when the firewood burns, they begin to crack loudly. Do not you think this noise is potentially dangerous?

Hey Ivan, I know how anxious one can get over this. Trust me.
I'd advise you to get a dB meter or decent app. So you have an idea how loud certain things are.
You shouldn't measure every thing, but sometimes you'll quickly see that things are within safe limits and thus you'll obsess way less.

Try being around a fire for 5 minutes. If your T doesn't spike, increase the time. Listen to your T - if it changes, stop being around fire, or at least begin wearing ear plugs when you are around it.

I'm glad this thread is here. I had the same question, and it sounds like lighting a fire in the fireplace is safe.

I was also outside looking for firewood in the forest today. I found a few branches which were too long for firemaking, and so I broke them into smaller pieces. After breaking one of the largest branches, my tinnitus immediately spiked in my bad ear. Only after that did it occur to me that breaking branches can be loud. So I won't be doing that anymore. Hoping the spike goes back down of course.
