My favorite part about this article is he basically explains that it causes him immense pain, he can't spend time at gatherings of family and friends, he spent a full year unable to do much at all, he has to wear hearing protection all the time, etc. but THEN...
All of this overly positive self-deception is NEVER going to help us in the long run.
"I've never been happier to be alive," this guy says. He feels so great, etc... but THREE PARAGRAPHS PRIOR he stated that he STILL completely collapses over his tinnitus "from time to time." This guy probably wrote this article to make himself further believe that he's recovered... but this is the only press action we seem to get.
It sucks because SO MANY of the other posts on that website ARE negative cries for help, but not this one. Not the one we need, oh no.
I know...totally unbelievable, with all the T stories I've read on here and the amount of support groups in the UK alone, was very surprised it is not listed and nobody has written about it.
I wrote to them asking why tinnitus isn't included as a separate condition, here's the reply:
"Thank you so much for reaching out. I don't believe we have any stories on The Mighty about tinnitus at this time, which is why it's not currently on our list. As soon as we publish the first one about this topic, it will appear on the list. If you'd like to share a story with us you can send it to community@themighty.com for editorial consideration. Our Submit a Story page offers more information about our submissions process http://themighty.com/submit-a-story/."
So if anyone is willing to share a story there you go.
