I write my posts to share some wisdom and some encouragement. I have started to date again and its been a long time since i fully dated. I had to take care of my ill parents for close to 12+ years and never had time to do anything and my tinnitus has always been bad and I limited myself in many ways.
I am a different man now, I am training harder than ever in my martial arts and my weight lifting. I am so driven because of one word - "Love"
This word has made me totally shut out my loud / intrusive tinnitus. My focus is all on finding that special gal/ training hard in what i love doing. All of this focus/distraction makes a HUGE difference in how we see things and how we feel.
I suffer from a muscular/neurological disease as well. My focus is on other things and i really feel like a new person. My drive is to feel the best, look the best and love the best..that is my goal....
Yours could be something else, maybe yoga, maybe being the best parents, brother, sister..anything. Maybe doing the best landscaping, or writing the best poems...ANYTHING.
I'll share something with you, I am also learning to play the acoustic guitar (I don't recommend this for those that suffer from tinnitus). I was tuning a string and it snapped out the guitar and cut my thumb. I felt that it was a loud sound. I did get a little nervous, but It, is what it is....I knew that worrying, would only bother me more and it wouldn't help.
Whole point of this post is this, find something that you LOVE to do(make sure, the sound is at safe levels and protect your ears/hearing), that is not loud and safe for your tinnitus and enjoy yourself, love yourself, DISTRACT yourself.
Distraction is the biggest factor, in coping and living with this horrible ordeal. Focusing on the sound is what makes us aware of it and simply feeling horrible.
We can live our lives and this tinnitus can go suck an egg
PS- yes, distracting ourselves, can be hard and difficult, but it is worth a try. That's all i am saying, we can get better at this by simply trying. I know some of you recently got tinnitus and it can take some time but in all honesty.....Distraction and the trying is what got me here and what brings me here to this board, to support all of you
