Hello everyone
I am new to this forum so please be patient with me. Not the best writer and might go back and forth. I believe that I have tinnitus and this is a self diagnose symptom. I have an appointment tomorrow with an ENT so I will be updating the results, findings, etc. I am hoping for the best. So here is my story...
First and foremost, all of the information posted here is all of my own research from searching, watching you tube videos, websites, social media, etc, etc, etc. Haven't gotten nowhere. I am sure that some or most of you have done the same and am not sure if anyone has posted the same information. Second, I cannot being to express how much my hear goes out to all of you that have been dealing with tinnitus for days or years. This is a living nightmare!
A bit about me! I am 50 yrs old, live a relative healthy lifestyle, have not had any noise trauma around the ears or anything related to a loud noise issue. I am constantly stressed and lately has been at an all time high. Not sure the exact date, but approximately two and a half weeks ago I started hearing a high pitch noise on my head and ears. Initially I though its one of those ear adjustments, but exponentially got worse. Still have it. The best way that i can describe it is the sound of car brakes when they screech x 1000.
I am not sure if stress is the cause, my body telling me to back off, trauma of some sort, etc. Based on the symptoms, i started doing research and the more than I did the more confused, stressed, depressed, anxious, etc. What an emotional roller coaster!!!
There is a cure, there is no cure, learn to deal with it, etc. Following are some of the findings I have come across regarding tinnitus that i this have merit mentioning in no specific order. Some of this I have tried and some I am trying as of now and in the future. I will write next to it. Again, these are findings only. By no means, I am recommending anything to anyone!!!
YouTube (only worth mentioning few)
Liam Boehm - Tinnitus Treatment
He believes that Fasting, cold showers, proper diet, etc cured his tinnitus. He advertises his remedies are free. Signed up for it (No worries, haven't paid a dime) in order to see what information is provided and at wheat point the charge comes. OF course already did in form of a book. Did parallel research on him and some people claim it is a scam and some don't.
Joey Remenyi - Neuroplasticity
From my understanding this is more of a psychological therapy and how to teach your body, mind (brain) and soul to reprogram the brain, eliminate or redice any form of stressful symptom that can cause tinnitus. This is what i have so far. Signed up for it and waiting to get more information on it. I haven't done any research on her and her success yet.
Julian Cowan Hill - Craniosacral Therapy
Definitely his videos are very soothing and encouraging. Didn't find any claims form other people of him being a scam. Trust me he is not paying me and have never met the man.
There are a few other videos out there with all kinds of therapies and remedies but not worth mentioning now.
Social Media (Facebook)
My amazing sister who happens to be in town visiting is preoccupied with my situation decided to post a message on Facebook asking if anyone new about tinnitus. Some people said they have and are coping with it and some recommended a specialist. ENT doctor or Audiologist.
Interesting enough, a physiotherapist friend of her suggested craniosacral therapy.
Other comments were of encouragement and support.
The comment made by her physiotherapist friend sounded like something I heard before (Julian Cowan Hill)
I decided to make an appointment with one and am waiting to find out when I have to be there. I will let you all know the results.
Others potential remedies and exercises that can help
Tapping
Tai Chi
Meditation
Yoga
Accupuncture
The list can go on and on.
Following is what I am doing, have done and will do.
I started 2 days ago with 5 min of tapping and 8 min of Tai Chi in the mornings.
I am taking Thiamin, Niacin, Zinc, Magnesium and Gingko Biloba in the mornings
Healthy Diet as best as I can
Today I got accupuncture and I got Chinese Herbs. Took them at lunch
I take a PPI (Proton pump inhibitor) every morning. This is for my acid reflux and have taking it for years. Has worked great
Probiotic for about a couple of years.
I take .25 mg of Lorazepam (Benzodiazepine) every night to help me sleep. Have been taking it since Jan 2018.
I have been super stressed for a number of factors (emotional, financial, professional, etc) for a long time. Now add tinnitus to the mix which makes everything incredibly counter-productive and here I am. I have never been clinically diagnosed with depression or any sort of mental illness.
The only thing that helps at the moment is when I take a shower. I guess the noise of it masks the screeching in my brain.
If you got to this point, thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. I apologize for any misspelling or writing screw ups. English is my second language...
Sincerely and respectfully,
Manito
