Cause of Tinnitus
loud DB amps up on stage
Anyways - my tinnitus was caused by the loud amps up on stage. Lots of fellow bandmates are all going thru this from their rock and loud amp playing - when you are younger as they say the world is a buffet, did not tell us what could happen later on - it's all I can think of now.

The ear specialists were all saying and no one was listening at the time, see me now or see me later and yes it will happen and of course it all came true.

I've been dealing with my tinnitus since when it started 10 to 15 years ago. It started out as what sounded like a soft noise inside a seashell. The noise of splashing ocean waves against the shore line.
At that time I was thinking that's not bad, others were talking about this issue from days before my time with them.

Now the tinnitus is at an all time high - it sounds like a pressure pot releasing steam from it - it's a loud hissing sound now. I've been to a few doctors and ear people and all say the same - you have to live with it - I tried eastern holistic practitioners, Chinese 1500 years old methods and nothing has reduced it - tried all the oils out there and other edibles. As I wake up from the zombie effect, the hissing sound greets me at the door.

I always have a friend indeed as they say.

Sounds like we have similar tinnitus. Can you mask it with other sounds? I can't, it's so loud, nothing comes close. Your early seaside tinnitus actually sounds quite pleasant lol.

Welcome to the band! My T also started with a whistling kettle from too much loud music, but since then a whole orchestra is joining in. I hope you figure out the strategies you need, to contain your problem and live with it, and hopefully see improvements to come.

Nothing works in my case, masking or whatever - tried a lot. The only true way at this time from what was stated is to do ear surgery and cut the auditory nerve ending to the eardrum and stop all tinnitus - that means deaf - that's what I've been told.

Welcome to the forum. Deafness can't stop tinnitus for sure because many deaf people still hear the ringing, as the ringing is not truly from the ears. The brain neurons are misfiring to cause the phantom sound of tinnitus. If you are considering such drastic surgery, you may want to check out the Treatments or Alternate Treatments sections for some other alternatives. Even in the Introduction, one member posts about inventing a sound which has helped healed his ringing. Check it out and other less invasive methods such as stem cell or neuro-modulation before doing the drastic moves of surgery to turn deaf.

Is there anything in particular that causes the increase in the ringing or did it just develop into it through time?

sorry you wasted money on fake medicine and pseudoscience.

Though I did not find a item that worked for me- it was not a waste on money - it may work for someone else for some reason - but no one has all the answers since science changes all the time - one day the answer will be found on how to stop it for lots of people who are going thru this - the answer may be found one day when it was in front of someone the entire time -- I will never give up.

Yes I've spiked it a few times through carelessness with noise exposure, but most of the spikes are settling down to baseline again, which I'll have to learn to live with. I think my ears have just had enough punishment over the years, and I'm always going to have to protect them better from now on.

You and your friends from the band still play some music ?
