They say tinnitus is sometimes a sign that a hearing loss will occur.

Does this mean that if the hearing loss will occur (if this is the case) the tinnitus will go away?

I ask this because I only know two young people with severe hearing loss and they always wear hearing aids. But none of them has tinnitus.

I wish!

My tinnitus started as I began to lose the hearing in my left ear. As my hearing loss increased so did the T. My only guess is that it's because of the imbalance between what I hear in each ear. Every now and then my T is suppressed (wish I knew why!) but my hearing is no better. My sister has hearing loss and T as well. I think it's likely genetic, or even just random, as to who gets T with hearing loss and who doesn't.
