Cause of Tinnitus
Acoustic Trauma
Have been battling this bout of tinnitus for a little more than a month, but over the past week and a half - two weeks, it is almost completely silent when I wake up in the morning. It will stay that way for a couple hours and then usually picks back up to a 3/10 by the afternoon, and a little louder in the evening/night.

Is this any indication of improvement? Why might it be quieter in the morning? The morning volume is definitely lower than it was in the first few weeks so I am hoping this means things are getting at least a little better. If only it would stay silent for a majority of my day!

Fluctuations are good. That means you might heal.
I recommend that you start taking curcumin in relatively high doses for a few weeks, fast during the day and only eat dinner, and take 7,8 DHF sublingually 3 times a day.
I am finally pulling out of this nightmare after 15 months and that's some of the things I've done.

It could be that you have been getting good sleep, you wake up feeling relaxed and calm, which lowers your tinnitus. And during the day, while at work or something, you may be more stressed and hyperactive causing your tinnitus to step up...

It's definitely a good sign!

Mine was like that a lot in the beginning and also occasionally still, and it wasn't a sign of improvement for me, seeing as my tinnitus hasn't lowered. But I hope it's different for you.

I would definitely be willing to try the supplements, but hesitant to do the fasting..I'm already a skinny guy as it is :notworthy:

Thank you for the optimism! This very well could be a contributing factor. Luckily my tinnitus hasn't been affecting my sleep all that much. It's really only loud when I try to fall asleep but keeping a fan on will mask it pretty well. Then if I wake up in the middle of the night at all it's low, like in the morning. Gotta keep those stress levels down. I'm sure my constant thinking about the ringing during the day also doesn't help lol.

Your tinnitus is just like mine was for a long time.

Mine is non existent in the morning and increases throughout the day as well, I've had tinnitus for a few years now.

Interesting..here's to me hopefully being able to recover like you've been able to. How recently have you started taking the circumin? Do you think you would've seen improvement faster if you had taken it earlier?

Oh, I started taking it off and on almost a year ago.

What's a 'relatively high' dose? Also what's the benefit of only eating dinner?

A common pattern is for the tinnitus to quiet down after a good night's sleep, and then build again during the day. Whether it is noise exposures, stress, or something else is the open question.

JohnAdams,
How are you doing today? Is your tinnitus gone? I've been suffering for two months.

Today I woke up with exacerbated tinnitus in my right ear only. I sat on the pot playing on my phone with the shower running cold water for like 30 minutes and after that it was essentially gone all day. Very strange.

What else have you done to help yourself? I see from an earlier post that you've been taking supplements. Pycnogenol did not help me. In fact, I was already taking it when my tinnitus started.

I found out about a doctor in South Korea that does ear injections of bone marrow and platelet rich plasma and underwent 5 weeks of treatments. I certainly saw a huge improvement shortly afterwards. Many people on this forum will poo poo this because his treatment is not verified with standard clinical trials with a placebo group etc. ( like Neuromod? ) and it certainly didn't cure me. I cannot totally discredit that procedure being behind some of my improvements.

However, I mostly avoid loud sounds, exercise, and take curcumin and I am 90-95% able to function as a worker, father, and husband now, and that is all that really matters to me.
