Cause of Tinnitus
unknown
I suffered from tinnitus (loud buzzing but no headaches) in 2005 and 2006. Slowly it got better. Last weekend I was listening to loud music and the next day the buzzing came back AND a constant headache. They both started at the same time. Interestingly the buzzing is constant in my left ear and most of my headache discomfort is on my left side near my left ear, over my left eye and on the back of my neck on the left side. Coincidence? Or does tinnitus some how lead to a headache?

Am I imagining these headaches? It is interesting that the headaches and the tinnitus both started at the exact same time. Coincidence?

I first got fleeting Occasional 3 second bursts of tinnitus at the very same time that I got a constant headache that lasted for several years. It was very obvious they were connected. I would guess either fire some kind of TMJ link or probably some other muscle tension link like the neck.

Very strangely, the constant headache disappeared a few weeks after I first got constant tinnitus. But I still believe in the link, my constant tinnitus was caused by something else.

I would possibly may recommend trying to see a physiotherapist to see if you have any tension in your shoulders and neck and doing some relaxing exercises. And maybe getting assessed by a dentist for TMJ.

thank you for the response...everything i have researched and a visit to a chiropractor and an ENT suggest some type of tension headache, cause by tightness in my back or stress. But my gut says the headache started when the buzzing stated so it must be related. You can never tell how stress affects you ... BUT I feel like my life has been stress free, I am actually enjoying my life immensely... until the buzzing and headaches. Best Wishes to you.

I've dealt with a lot of this kind of stuff for years, and recently discovered a simple technique that has substantially reduced the tension and discomfort in my upper back and neck area. I think there's even a chance it's moderating my tinnitus intensity somewhat. Here's a link to the 5-min. video demonstrating the technique. I wish I had discovered this years ago. -- BTW, I'm happy to read you're enjoying your life immensely! :)
