Cause of Tinnitus
SSHL from a kiss on the ear
I've been struggling with tinnitus and low frequency mild hearing loss for about 7 months now. I am still having a really difficult time. My ear is still painful and its still full of pressure. It almost feels like there is water in there (without the wetness) or like someone is squeezing my inner ear shut. I've gone to multiple doctors, everyone says "learn to live with it."

I guess I don't understand what causes the pain and pressure.

Is it the hearing loss or the ear straining itself to hear? I tried a hearing aid, but it didn't seem to help.

I could hear, but couldn't make out speech. I don't know what else to do. The tinnitus is unbearable on top of dealing with the hearing loss.

This is the most depressing thing that has ever happened to me, and it's making it impossible to live everyday life. It's taken all the joy out of my life.

The worst part is it wasn't even my fault, it occurred because a person injured my ear so I'm still having such a difficult time not being so angry about it.

I suffer from a similar situation friend, please hang in there, There is an active clinical trial to reverse Sensorineural hearing loss which should also help tinnitus and possibly the ear pain you experience.

In my case it was 100% my fault.

Otonomy starts a clinical trial for cochlear ribbon synapse repair in 2019

Decibel Therapeutics is working on tackling a plethora of inner ear conditions and is working on treatments similar to what Otonomy is doing. They have some of the best scientist on their team.

Help is on the way!

Do you think if the clinical trials are successful, it will also help people with moderate hearing loss? That's what's worrying me right now :/

Help is really on the way, do not lose hope, try to remain hopeful and try to remain distracted, you got this alright, I am here for you if you need someone to talk to :) I hope you can start to habituate till the help is on our way :) good luck

Thank you... Clinical trials are my only hope at this point. I can't believe how many people are suffering with hearing loss/tinnitus. I always though if you had hearing loss everything was just quieter. I didn't realize how bad it could be... All the pain, pressure, distorted hearing, tinnitus, and sound sensitivity.

I've had moderate hearing loss for 15 years, my hearing loss was a normal quiet hearing loss until now I got tinnitus, I'm starting to think it was a loud party with live music that started my tinnitus :/ but who knows what it was, but gladly help is on the way :) just a little hanging on to do but think of it as something that is making you stronger, humble and being a voice to others who don't have cures as well. Tinnitus is hard to deal with but let's take life day by day :) good luck and I'm always here for you. A message away if you need someone to talk to :)
